Start with the Kerala State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) Department’s official GST resources, then search by document type and identifying details. Before relying on a result, open the official document and check its issuing office, subject, number, date and statutory reference; a search title or snippet alone is not enough.
Where to start looking
Use the Kerala SGST Department’s official website and locate its GST resources. The department’s resources index groups material under categories including “GST STATE NOTIFICATIONS,” “GST LAWS” and circular resources. Those categories make the index a useful starting point, but the precise layout and click-by-click route may change.

Keep the jurisdiction in view: Kerala SGST records are not the same as central GST notifications or GST Council material. Check the issuing authority shown on the document before treating it as the record you need.
How to search and verify a document
- Choose the document type. Search for a notification, order or circular, rather than treating the terms as interchangeable.
- Combine identifying terms. Search the official site or web using “Kerala GST” with the document type and, if known, its number or year, subject, or relevant section or rule. For example, a search for a circular about numbering under section 73 can include those terms together.
- Open the official-domain result. Read the document itself, not just the search result’s title or snippet. Check the issuing office, subject, document number, date, any file number, and statutory reference. - Check for newer guidance. If the document affects a filing, notice, adjudication or appeal, search for later official publications on the same subject before relying on it. A past circular may not be the latest instruction.
Distinguish orders by their legal route
“Order” can refer to different stages of a GST matter. Match the document’s provision and purpose to the record you are looking for.

Checking a communication’s reference number
For covered communications addressed to a taxpayer, Kerala SGST Circular No. 14/2023 describes use of a computer-generated Reference Number (RFN) and records exceptions. An absent RFN alone therefore does not establish that a communication is invalid. The cited circular does not establish a public RFN lookup or verification page. Circular No. 14/2023 (PDF).
