Find tech vacancies through searchable job platforms, then confirm the employer, role and recruiter independently before sharing sensitive information. India’s National Career Service (NCS) is one government-run starting point: it includes IT & Communication among its sectors and lets job seekers filter openings by preferences. A listing—even one bearing a familiar company name—is a lead, not proof that a recruiter is genuine.
Start with a focused search
Search for the role and skills you actually bring, rather than using only a broad phrase such as “IT job.” Specific job titles and relevant technologies can make results easier to assess. On NCS, search by keyword and refine using available preferences. The Government of India service directory describes filters for location, sector, role and qualification.

You can use more than one job-search channel to discover openings, but assess each listing before acting on it. NCS distinguishes its direct listings from jobs aggregated through partners: partner jobs carry a “Powered By” label in the Company Name field. That label identifies an aggregated listing; it does not verify the employer or the individual who contacts you. See the NCS job-seeker FAQs for details.

Verify the employer, vacancy and recruiter
- Find the company independently. Navigate to the employer’s official website or careers channel yourself rather than relying only on a link in a message or listing.
- Confirm the vacancy. Check whether the role appears on the official channel. If it does not, or the details differ, contact the organization using contact information obtained independently and ask whether the opening is genuine.
- Check the person contacting you. Verify that the recruiter is genuinely connected to the employer. NCS advises checking an employer’s background, while Naukri’s security guidance advises checking the authenticity of the person contacting you. These checks are especially important for partner-aggregated listings and unsolicited messages.
No single sign necessarily proves a job is fraudulent, but inconsistencies are a reason to pause and verify before proceeding.
Recognize warning signs and refuse employment fees
NCS lists several warning signs: an offer of direct joining without an interview or selection process, unusually high pay for easy work, and a personal email address used by someone claiming to represent a major company. Treat these as prompts for independent checks, not as proof on their own.
Do not pay to secure a job. The National Career Service, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, states: “NCS services are free of cost. NCS does not charge any fee at any stage of registration, job application, interview processing and other employment related services.” NCS also tells candidates not to pay employers. Naukri’s Security Centre warns against employment-related payments to employers or agencies, including requests described as registration, refundable or document-processing fees.

Report suspected fraud or cybercrime
If you suspect a scam or have suffered a financial loss, use India’s National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. It provides complaint registration and financial-fraud reporting, as well as facilities to check or report suspect identifiers such as websites, phone numbers and email IDs. NCS publishes helpline 1514 and directs users to cybercrime helpline 1930; confirm current contact details on the official sites before calling. The portal’s FAQ explains its reporting facilities.
