On a Chromebook, open Settings > Accessibility > Display and magnification, then switch on Color inversion. To restore the usual colors, return to the same setting and switch it off.
Turn color inversion on or off

Select the time in the bottom-right corner to open Quick Settings. You can also press Alt + Shift + s to open this area.

Google describes the effect as: “Screens change from light to dark and vice versa.” Google Chromebook Help documents this as a built-in accessibility feature.
Make accessibility options easier to reach
To keep accessibility controls in the system menu, open Settings > Accessibility and enable Always show accessibility options in the system menu. The documented shortcut opens Quick Settings; Google does not document a separate keyboard shortcut that directly toggles Color inversion.

What to check if Color inversion is unavailable

Open Settings > Accessibility and look under Display and magnification for Color inversion.

Interface labels and locations can change with ChromeOS updates, so the route may look different on a newer or older interface.

Where inversion is documented to work
Google says ChromeOS color inversion can support high-contrast viewing of Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, and images. That guidance does not establish identical behavior for every Android app, Linux app, video, or external display.
