Apple describes Local Lists as collections of locally relevant places, including trending restaurants and places to take kids. Suggestions are based on what people view, share, and interact with most in Apple Maps. Apple says the trend insights are designed with privacy in mind and are not tied to individual users. Apple Newsroom, June 9, 2026; Apple Support.

To keep a collection, open its guide and tap Add to Guides. Apple says saved guides appear at Places > Guides. To send a guide to someone else, open it and tap its Share button. Apple Support: Explore places with guides.
Why Local Lists may not appear
Apple documents Local Lists as available in select U.S. cities. Its support directions do not give a complete city-by-city list, so the search result’s absence does not establish a particular cause beyond the feature’s limited availability. Apple does not provide enough information in the cited guidance to confirm availability for a specific location.

Local Lists versus your own custom guide
Local Lists are discovery collections surfaced in Maps; custom guides are lists you assemble yourself. Use a Local List to browse a collection, then save or share it. Use a custom guide to organize your own itinerary or shortlist.
| Feature | Local Lists | Custom guides |
|---|---|---|
| Who selects the places | Apple surfaces a locally relevant collection. | You choose the places to include. |
| Best for | Discovering places in a local collection. | Organizing a personal shortlist or itinerary. |
| Documented controls | Open, save with Add to Guides, and share. | Create, edit, add or remove places, rename, and share. |
To create a custom guide, open Your Guides, tap the add-to-list control, give the guide a name, optionally choose a photo, then tap Done. To add a place, open its place card, tap More, then Add to Guides. You can manage a guide later by editing it, renaming it, or removing places. Apple Support: Organize places with custom guides.

Save one place instead of a whole guide
If you only want to keep an individual spot, save it to Places from its place card. Apple also lets you add a personal note to a place. Notes are for your own use: when you share that place, a note may appear as text alongside the shared link, but it is not added to the recipient’s notes. Apple Support: Add places and notes to your Places.
