To find a payment record in the Google Wallet app, open View more → View more transactions, then search or open a transaction. On the Google Wallet website, select Transactions. For an online order imported from Gmail, open the order and choose View email receipt to see the original email. These records are not interchangeable: Wallet transaction details may omit items and other purchase information, so use the merchant’s receipt for proof of purchase and your bank statement for a fuller account history.
What Google Wallet calls a receipt
Google Wallet can show payment transaction details and, for supported online orders associated with Gmail, link to an email receipt. A transaction record is a summary of a payment; an order record is information imported from Gmail; and the email receipt is the merchant’s original message. Wallet does not create a universal archive of every purchase.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
This distinction matters when you need to check exactly what you bought, confirm tax, make a return, or prove a purchase. Wallet may not receive all the merchant’s details. Google Wallet Help states, “Transactions shown on Google Wallet do not replace the original receipt.” Open the merchant’s receipt for order-level details. For a complete account history, check the bank statement or contact the card issuer.
| Record | Where to look | Best used for |
|---|---|---|
| Tap-to-pay transaction | Wallet app or website Transactions | Finding a payment summary or checking when and where a supported payment appears |
| Gmail-sourced online order | Wallet app or website, filtered to Orders | Finding an order record imported from a linked Gmail account |
| Original email receipt | The email opened from a supported Wallet order, or directly in Gmail | Checking the merchant’s purchase details |
| Account record | Your bank or card issuer statement | Reviewing account activity when a Wallet record is missing or incomplete |
The app and website have different search options and coverage. The website can search transaction records by business name, amount, date or time period, category, or refund. Neither surface should be treated as a substitute for the merchant’s receipt or the bank’s record.

Think of the records as serving different jobs. Wallet is a convenient place to look for a transaction or an eligible Gmail order. The merchant’s receipt is the stronger record for the products, tax, and order terms. Your bank or card statement is the place to review account activity across payments, including transactions that Wallet does not display. If a question concerns whether money left your account, compare Wallet with the statement; if it concerns what was in a particular order, use the merchant’s documentation.
Find a transaction in the Google Wallet app
- Open the Google Wallet app on your phone.
- Tap View more, then View more transactions.
- Search by keyword, or browse the list and tap a transaction to open its details. If you want to see activity for one card, tap that card first and choose View more transactions.
- If Wallet asks, verify your identity to view the financial information.
Google says transaction details may not include all purchase information. The merchant’s name or other details can therefore be limited even when the payment itself appears. If you need the location associated with a tap-to-pay transaction, location permission must be enabled; that setting applies to new transactions, not retroactively to earlier ones. Purchase notifications can be switched in Wallet settings, but a notification is not the same as a saved receipt.
Searching is useful when you remember a word associated with a transaction but not its date. If you know which card you used, opening that card before viewing transactions narrows your view to its activity. If you do not find a record in the app, do not assume the purchase was never made: check your statement, since Wallet details can be incomplete or unavailable.

If you expect to need a transaction later, consider checking or keeping the relevant account record before removing the card or pass. For Google’s current app instructions, see Google Wallet app transactions. The labels and navigation can change as the app is updated.
Find transactions on the Google Wallet website
- Open the Google Wallet website and select Transactions.
- Look through the most recent records, or choose View more transactions to see older ones.
- Use search to narrow the results by a business name, amount, date or time period, category, or refund.
- Verify your identity if prompted before viewing financial information.
The website can show contactless payments, online virtual-card transactions, and—in the US—transactions from accounts linked through Plaid. It does not show purchases from Google Play, YouTube, or Google One. Some records may not appear or may only be available briefly, so a missing entry does not establish that a payment did not happen. If a transaction is absent or incomplete, check the bank statement. Google’s instructions are on its Google Wallet website transactions page.
The website’s filters can be helpful if you are trying to narrow a longer history: you can look for a business name, a particular amount, a date or time period, a category, or a refund. The app’s instructions describe keyword search and a card-specific history view, while the website documents these additional search criteria. If you are unsure which record you need, begin with the surface that matches the purchase type, then verify important details against the merchant or bank record.

Coverage depends on the type of transaction and, for Plaid-linked account activity, the US availability noted above. A missing purchase from a Google service is not a sign that it should appear after refreshing the Wallet Transactions page: Google Play, YouTube, and Google One purchases belong in the relevant Google product or Google payments center instead.
Find an online order or its emailed receipt
Wallet’s online-order feature imports order information from Gmail. It is currently available only in the US, works with participating merchants rather than every seller, and requires the order to be associated with the Gmail account you use. Having a purchase email in another account, or buying from a merchant that does not participate, can leave the order out of Wallet.
This is distinct from a tap-to-pay transaction. A card payment may show up as a transaction summary, while an eligible online order is drawn from Gmail and may link back to its email receipt. The order feature is therefore not a way to add any receipt manually or to search every online purchase ever made. If the merchant or email account is not supported, check Gmail and the merchant’s own order page.
Turn on the required settings
- In Gmail, enable Smart features in other Google products.
- In Google Wallet, enable Auto save passes & receipts from Gmail.
Menu paths and setting labels can vary by interface version. Google’s Google Wallet online orders help page has the current feature guidance.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Both settings matter: Gmail must allow the relevant smart features, and Wallet must be set to automatically save passes and receipts from Gmail. Also confirm that you are looking at the Gmail account associated with the order. Having the message somewhere in Gmail is not enough if it is in a different account from the one linked to Wallet or if the seller does not participate.
Open the order from the app or website
- In the app: Open View more → View more transactions, then filter by Orders or search. Open the order and choose View email receipt to view the original email.
- On the website: Open Transactions, filter by Orders, and open the order.
Use the email receipt or the merchant’s own order page to verify the order details. Package tracking is a separate feature: it requires Gmail tracking settings, and detailed updates are limited to participating carriers in the US. An order record in Wallet does not mean every shipping update or merchant detail will be available there.
If you remove an order from Wallet, that removes the Wallet record, not the corresponding Gmail message. You can still find the original email in Gmail, subject to the message remaining in that account. This distinction is useful if you are cleaning up Wallet but want to retain the merchant’s original receipt.

What Wallet can and cannot manage
Wallet records are useful for finding, not replacing, purchase documents
A Wallet transaction can help you locate a payment, but it may omit purchased items and other information that appears on the merchant’s receipt. For a return, an itemized purchase record, or proof of purchase, use the merchant’s receipt. Wallet does not issue refunds: the merchant handles returns and refunds for purchases made on a non-Google site or app, and a refund is sent to the purchase method.
For example, if Wallet shows a payment but not the products in the bag, that transaction detail alone may not establish which item you bought or what tax was charged. Open the merchant email or order details for that information. If you are reconciling the payment itself, compare the amount and posting in the bank statement. These documents answer related but different questions.
Removing records has different effects
Removing an order from Wallet removes that Wallet record but does not delete the email from Gmail. By contrast, removing a payment card or pass can mean losing the transaction history associated with it. Before removing a card or pass, consider whether you may need to refer to its Wallet history later. Google’s Manage Google Wallet items page explains item management.
Do not treat deleting an order and deleting its source message as the same action. Wallet’s order removal affects the Wallet view; the original email remains in Gmail. For card or pass removal, the stated risk is different: associated transaction history may no longer be available in Wallet. If a record matters for a return or your own records, locate the merchant email or bank statement before removing the related Wallet item.
Privacy settings affect Wallet data and personalization
Wallet includes controls for Wallet history and for using Wallet and payments information for personalization. Some privacy settings are rolling out gradually, so the controls you see may differ. Turning personalization controls on or off does not change how Google saves purchases made on other Google services. Review Google Wallet data and privacy for the available controls and their effects.

In particular, changing a Wallet personalization control should not be mistaken for changing purchase records held by other Google services. Google Play, YouTube, and Google One purchases remain associated with those services rather than appearing in the Wallet website’s Transactions list. Check the specific privacy controls presented in your Wallet account because availability may vary as settings roll out.
Troubleshoot a missing or unclear record
A tap-to-pay transaction is missing
- Check your bank or card statement. Wallet may not show every record, and some merchant details may not be sent to Wallet.
- If the payment remains unclear, contact the card issuer. The issuer can help investigate account activity that Wallet does not explain.
- If you are looking for the location of a transaction, confirm that location permission was enabled for Wallet. It applies to new transactions.
When checking the app, make sure you have opened transaction history rather than only looking at the card or pass itself. On the website, use Transactions and expand the list for older records. If you still cannot find it, use the statement as the account-level reference. A Wallet result can omit merchant detail, and some records may not appear or may only be available briefly on the website.

An online order is missing
- Confirm that you are in the US, where the online-order feature is currently available, and that the merchant participates.
- Check that the order is associated with the Gmail account you use for Wallet.
- Confirm that Gmail’s Smart features in other Google products and Wallet’s Auto save passes & receipts from Gmail are enabled.
- Search or filter by Orders in the app or website. If the order still does not appear, look for the message in Gmail or check the merchant’s site.
These checks address the main limitations of the feature: country availability, participating sellers, the correct linked Gmail account, and the two required settings. If all four are in place but the order remains absent, the merchant’s order page and email are the places to verify the purchase rather than assuming Wallet has a complete online-order history.
A Google service purchase is missing from Transactions
Google Play, YouTube, and Google One purchases do not appear in the Wallet website’s Transactions view. Look in the relevant Google product or Google payments center instead.
A refund is missing or a charge looks suspicious
For a return or refund on an item bought from a non-Google site or app, contact the merchant. If you do not recognize a charge, compare it with your bank statement and contact the card issuer about the payment. Wallet is not the party that processes the merchant’s return.
A Wallet transaction summary does not determine whether a merchant has approved a return or sent a refund. The merchant handles the return and sends a refund to the purchase method. If the concern is an unfamiliar or unresolved payment, check the bank or card statement and raise it with the card issuer.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find a receipt in Google Wallet?
For a payment record, open the Wallet app and tap View more → View more transactions, then search or open a transaction. For an eligible Gmail-sourced online order, filter by Orders, open it, and select View email receipt to see the original merchant email.
Recommended Free Tools
Where are my Google Wallet transactions?
In the app, transaction history is under View more → View more transactions. On the Google Wallet website, select Transactions; recent records appear first, and View more transactions opens older ones. You may be asked to verify your identity.
Best Value
How do I find an online order in Google Wallet?
The order must be associated with the Gmail account used with Wallet, come from a participating merchant, and be covered by the feature, which is currently available only in the US. Enable Gmail’s Smart features in other Google products and Wallet’s Auto save passes & receipts from Gmail, then search or filter by Orders.
Can Google Wallet show what I bought or replace a receipt?
Not reliably. Wallet transaction details may omit items and other purchase information. For exact items, tax, returns, or proof of purchase, use the merchant’s original receipt or order details. Google says Wallet transactions do not replace the original receipt.
Why can’t I see a Google Play, YouTube, or Google One purchase in Wallet Transactions?
Those purchases do not appear in the Google Wallet website’s Transactions view. Check the relevant Google product or Google payments center instead.
If I remove an order from Wallet, is its email receipt deleted?
No. Removing an order removes its Wallet record but does not delete the Gmail message. Removing a payment card or pass is different and can mean losing associated transaction history.
Who should I contact about a return, refund, or unclear charge?
Contact the merchant about a return or refund for a purchase from a non-Google site or app; refunds go to the purchase method. For an unfamiliar or unresolved payment, check your bank statement and contact the card issuer.
The Bottom Line
Use Google Wallet to locate supported payment summaries and Gmail-sourced orders, not as a complete receipt archive. For an itemized purchase record, open the merchant’s receipt; for account activity Wallet does not show or explain, check your bank statement and contact the card issuer if needed.
