To check DLC linked to your account and its installation status, open the game’s Library page and go to Properties > DLC. The steps work for free-to-play games, but whether a particular title offers DLC—and whether it costs anything—depends on that game.
Find out whether the game offers DLC
Open the game’s Steam Store page and look for its DLC, or search Steam for the game or the specific content’s name. Steam lists DLC on the base game’s Store page when the game offers it. Steam’s DLC guidance describes both ways to find it.

A free-to-play base game does not mean all of its additional content is free. Steam says free-to-play games can be downloaded and played without a subscription or credit card; optional purchases depend on what the individual game supports. Check that game’s Store page for the DLC’s availability, price, and any stated restrictions. Steam’s free-to-play FAQ explains the platform-wide rule.

- Open the game’s DLC controls. In your Library, right-click the game and select Properties, then choose DLC. Alternatively, open the game’s Library page, select its gear icon, and choose Properties > DLC. If the Library page has a DLC section, you can scroll to it and select Manage My DLC.
- Review the DLC listed there. Steam’s DLC management view shows content associated with the game and whether it is installed. Use that status to check installation; it does not establish whether the game has enabled the content in-game.
- Check download activity if needed. If you cannot tell whether an installation or update is progressing, open Steam’s Download Manager to track it. See Steam’s guide to managing downloads and updates.
The three Library routes are alternatives to reach the DLC controls; choose whichever is visible in your client. Steam documents them in its DLC instructions.

Distinguish playable DLC from bonus files
Some add-ons are not playable in-game content. If you mean artwork, a soundtrack, or other bonus files, Steam directs users to the game’s Library entry, then Properties > Local Files > Browse. The files may be stored there rather than appearing as a playable addition. See Steam’s bonus-content instructions.

If the DLC appears installed but does not work after you launch a third-party game, contact its developer or publisher. Steam’s Third-Party Game Support guidance explains how to find the game’s support contact through its Library Support area. For Steam account, purchase, or client problems, contact Steam Support.
