On older software, use Settings on iPhone or iPad, or System Settings or Safari on Mac. Editing an entry changes what is stored in Keychain; to change your actual login password, use the website or app’s password-change process too.
Find a saved password on iPhone or iPad
iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 and later
- Open the Passwords app.
- Unlock it with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
- Choose a category or Shared Group, then select the website or app. If you are unsure where the entry is, start with All.
Apple’s instructions for finding saved passwords and passkeys on iPhone cover these steps and the option to edit an entry.

- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.
- Select the website or app whose saved credential you need.
Apple documents the older Settings route in the same iPhone password instructions.
Find a saved password on Mac
macOS Sequoia or later
- Open the Passwords app.
- Authenticate with Touch ID or your Mac account password.
- Select the account. Use All if you are not sure which category or group contains it.
Apple’s Mac instructions for finding saved passwords and passkeys describe this route.

- POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The Security Key C NFC is the essential physical passkey for protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts.
- WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single Security Key C NFC secures 100 of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more.
- FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your Security Key C NFC via USB-C and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC) to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required.
- TRUSTED PASSKEY TECHNOLOGY: Uses the latest passkey standards (FIDO2/WebAuthn & FIDO U2F) but does not support One-Time Passwords. For complex needs, check out the YubiKey 5 Series.
- BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.
macOS Sonoma or earlier
Use either Apple menu > System Settings > Passwords or Safari > Settings > Passwords. Authenticate, select the account, and open its details to view or edit the saved record. The available route depends on your macOS version.
Update the saved entry—or change the account password
On iPhone or iPad, select the entry and tap Edit; on a Mac using the Passwords app, select the account and click Edit. Change the saved password field and save the entry. These steps update the credential stored on your device and, when sync is enabled, in iCloud Keychain. They do not by themselves change the password held by the website or app.

If the password entry is missing
- Check the view: Look in All rather than a single category, “My Passwords,” or a Shared Group. Check Deleted or Recently Deleted as well.
- Check Keychain sync: On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > your name > iCloud > Passwords > Sync this Device. On Mac, go to System Settings > your name > iCloud > Passwords > Sync this Mac. Labels can vary on older software; you may see Passwords & Keychain.
- Check the Apple Account and device: iCloud Keychain sync requires the same Apple Account and Passwords or Keychain syncing enabled on the devices. Apple describes the feature as keeping passwords and other secure information updated across devices in its iCloud Keychain setup guide.
- Check Shared Group compatibility: A password moved to a Shared Group may not appear on a device with incompatible software. Apple’s iPhone guidance specifies iOS 17 or later for viewing items in this situation; see Apple’s iPhone instructions.
When Keychain is turned off, password and passkey data remains on the device rather than syncing. Signing out of an Apple Account can also affect availability and updates, so verify the account and sync setting before concluding that the entry was deleted.
