If the file is missing, search by name, check Recent files and other file categories, then look in the storage location or app used to download it. Some offline music and video stays inside its original app rather than appearing as a regular file.
Open Downloads in My Files

Open My Files. If it is not on your Home screen, swipe up to open the apps screen and search for “My Files”; it may also be inside a Samsung folder.

Samsung’s Gulf support guide identifies Downloads as the place to browse downloaded content. The exact labels and layout can vary by Galaxy model, software version and region, so use the closest matching options shown on your phone. Samsung Gulf: Where Are Downloaded Files on a Galaxy Phone?

Find a file that is not in Downloads
Search by filename
In My Files, tap the search icon and enter all or part of the filename. If you do not remember the name, try a distinctive word or file extension, such as “.pdf” or “.jpg.”
Check Recent files and file categories
Look in Recent files to find items opened or saved recently. You can also browse the relevant category, such as Images, Videos, Audio or Documents. These views can help when you know what kind of file you downloaded but not its folder.

Check the app and storage location
The file’s location depends on its type and the app that downloaded it. Browse the storage locations visible in My Files, including an SD card only if your Galaxy model supports one and one is available. Some apps save items in their own folders rather than Downloads. Samsung notes that protected offline video or music may only be accessible within the app that downloaded it, not as a file you can open from My Files.

For an image downloaded from the Google app that is missing, Samsung UK specifically recommends checking storage permissions for that app. This is a targeted check for that situation, not a general fix for every missing download. If the download never appeared

Confirm it finished. Check the app or browser you used, and review its download list or notifications if available.

Check your connection and free storage. A weak connection or insufficient space can stop a download from completing.

Consider website restrictions. The site may not permit the file to be downloaded. Samsung advises using trusted websites; avoid bypassing security warnings to obtain a file.

If you deleted the download
Do not assume every Galaxy phone has the same recovery path or keeps deleted files for the same length of time. Samsung’s regional support pages describe Recycle Bin or Trash features differently. Check the instructions for your model, software version and region before relying on a recovery option.
Why the folder can differ
My Files is the practical starting point, but it is not a universal directory for every kind of downloaded content. The downloading app, file type, storage location and whether the download completed all affect where an item appears.
