How to Find a Company’s Shareholding Pattern on NSE and BSE

Find official company shareholding disclosures on NSE or BSE, and learn which dates and filing details to check before using the figures.

Find a company’s official shareholding-pattern filing on either exchange: use NSE’s company search or BSE’s Shareholding Pattern search, then check the filing’s reporting date and revision details. These are company-level disclosures—not a statement of the shares or transactions in your own demat account.

Find the official exchange search pages

SEBI’s Corporate Filings directory lists the official exchange routes for shareholding patterns. It names NSE’s route as Corporate Announcements > View All > Shareholding Patterns and BSE’s as Corporates > Corporate Filings > Shareholding Patterns. You can also open the exchanges’ search pages directly.

Search for a company on NSE

  1. Open the NSE Shareholding Patterns page.
  2. Search by the company name or NSE symbol.
  3. Review the result’s “As on” or reporting date, submission date, status and any revision date. Open the filing link for the underlying disclosure.

The detailed filing can show promoter and promoter group, public shareholders, non-promoter non-public shareholders and significant beneficial owner sections. The exact information is in the filing itself, so use the linked disclosure rather than relying only on a result summary.

Search for a company on BSE

  1. Open BSE’s Shareholding Pattern search page.
  2. Find the company and select the filing you want to inspect.
  3. Check its reporting period and review the category-level tables and explanatory notes on how holder names and fields are presented.

Choose the right filing when several appear

Do not assume the most recently submitted filing represents the newest ownership snapshot. A company may submit a revision for an earlier reporting date. Compare the filing dates and status together:

  • Reporting date: the date for which the shareholding snapshot applies.
  • Submission date: when the exchange received or displayed the filing.
  • Revision date and status: whether the filing was revised and when.
  • Underlying document: the detailed tables and declarations behind any summary figures.

NSE’s results display reporting or “As on” date, submission date, revision date and status, making these useful fields to compare. BSE’s page provides the selected filing’s reporting period and category detail. Exchange layouts and available filings may change, so verify the live record before relying on a figure.

Read the filing as a company-level disclosure

Begin by checking the issuer name, exchange symbol or scrip code, security class, report type, reporting date and regulation cited. Then inspect the summary and category tables. For an illustration of the fields and structure—not a current ownership claim—an archived NSE filing for Allied Digital Services Limited identifies the issuer, symbol, ISIN, report type, reporting date and applicable SEBI regulation before presenting detailed shareholding tables.

Company disclosures are not your demat statement

A shareholding pattern reports ownership at the company level. It does not show your personal demat balance or transaction history. For example, CDSL says registered beneficial owners and clearing members can use Easi to access their demat accounts and view holdings or transactions. That service answers a different question from an exchange’s company filing.
