The most reliable way to farm useful loot in Torchlight: Infinite is to run the hardest Netherrealm difficulty you can clear consistently and quickly, then sell the valuable drops you do not need through the in-game Trade House. A higher Timemark is not automatically more efficient: slow clears, deaths, expensive map materials, or drops that are difficult to sell can outweigh the extra difficulty. Set your loot filter for what you are actually farming, and reassess your route when the season or market changes.
How the Netherrealm farming loop works
The Netherrealm is the core endgame loop described in the available progression guidance. Beacons open stages; clearing maps advances progress toward a Plane Watcher; defeating that Plane Watcher advances progression and yields Cinders, which are used to unlock more content. The practical goal is to turn each run into reliable progress or useful loot without spending so long on a map that your overall pace collapses.

- Open a stage with a Beacon. Beacons are part of the map-entry loop, so include the supply and cost of the Beacons you use when judging a route.
- Clear maps to advance the plane. Your map clears build progress toward the Plane Watcher. During early progression, value unlocks and a stable build more than trying to make every individual map a high-profit run.
- Defeat the Plane Watcher. Its defeat advances your progression and gives Cinders for unlocking additional content.
- Choose the next stage or farming tier based on your goal. Continue progressing if you still need unlocks; once you have a suitable farm, repeat content you can clear at a sustainable pace.
This distinction matters: progression and farming are related, but they are not identical. A run that unlocks a new part of the Netherrealm can be worthwhile even if its loot is ordinary. Conversely, once you have access to the content you want, repeatedly pushing into a higher tier may be a poor farming choice if it costs too much time or survival.

Use the highest Netherrealm difficulty that your character can complete reliably at a good pace. “Reliably” means that the build survives and finishes the run without frequent failures; “good pace” means the extra challenge is not making each clear so slow that you complete fewer maps over the same play session. There is no universal Timemark that is best for every build or season.

When deciding whether to move up a Timemark, compare the whole loop rather than the headline difficulty. A faster, lower tier can win if it gives you more clears, fewer deaths, lower material costs, or drops that are easier to sell. A higher tier is attractive only when its additional eligibility or rewards are worth the slower pace and added risk for your character.
Use guide targets as reference points, not entry requirements
A MUSA team guide updated September 30, 2026, gives level 90 to 95, at least 3,000 life, and item-level-80-or-higher gear as targets for comfortable Timemark 7 farming. These are guide targets, with the table drawing on another guide; they are not official requirements, and they do not guarantee that every build will be comfortable at that tier. Treat them as a rough point of comparison when assessing readiness, not a checklist that overrides your own clear speed and survival.
The same distinction applies to all build advice: a character may meet a level or gear target and still struggle because its damage, defenses, or execution do not suit the content. If runs become inconsistent, step down and make the farm dependable before pushing again. A tier you can clear only occasionally is not a dependable farming tier.

Farm for Flame Elementium by valuing the whole haul
Flame Elementium (FE) can come from direct drops, but a farming session’s value may also come from items you sell. The MUSA team’s September 30, 2026 guide describes Beacons, Compasses, Memories, useful gear, and other in-game materials as possible sources of sale value through the Auction House. The official game description uses the name Trade House for its in-game marketplace and describes trading as part of the game’s economy. In other words, if FE is the goal, do not judge the session only by the currency that appears directly in your inventory.
That does not mean every item listed in a guide will sell, or that any particular drop has a stable price. The market changes, demand varies, and a listing is not the same as a completed sale. Check current in-game prices and actual demand before treating an item as part of your expected return. Keep items you need for your own progression or build separate from items you intend to sell; selling a useful upgrade can reduce the efficiency of future runs.
How to use the reported 700 FE-per-hour estimate
The MUSA team guide reports around 700 FE per hour for strong Timemark 7/8 farming with clears of approximately one minute. This is a third-party guide estimate, not an official rate, controlled benchmark, or guarantee. Its result depends on the route, character, patch, season timing, material costs, market prices, and whether the player can maintain the stated pace. Do not use it as a promise of what your own session will earn.
For a useful personal comparison, measure your own route over a representative session. Count the time spent clearing, loading or preparing maps, sorting items, and listing goods. Record FE obtained directly, sales that actually complete, and the materials spent to enter the content. This lets you distinguish a route that looks profitable because of a few valuable drops from one that produces dependable value over repeated runs.

Measure realized results, not a best-case map
Use the same accounting method when comparing two routes. For each one, note the session length, completed maps, deaths or failed runs, Beacon and other material consumption, direct FE, and completed marketplace sales. You can then compare:
- Clear pace: completed maps divided by time spent on the full loop, not just the time inside a single map.
- Net currency: direct FE plus completed sale proceeds, minus the value or cost of materials consumed. Keep unsold listings out of realized proceeds.
- Consistency: whether results recur across several sessions or depend on a rare high-value drop.
- Progress value: whether the route also unlocks content or improves your character, even if its immediate sale return is lower.
This is a comparison framework, not a claim that a particular route has been tested or that one can produce a set amount per hour. It helps answer the question that matters for your character: which available route produces the most useful progress or realized value at a pace you can sustain?
Configure your loot filter around the farm
A loot filter is useful because it controls which items are shown while you play. Set it according to your current objective: progression gear, items you plan to sell, materials relevant to the route, or a narrower target once your build is established. A filter that is too broad can leave you sorting items that are not useful; one that is too strict can hide an upgrade or saleable drop you meant to collect.
Revisit the filter when your goal changes. A progression character may want to see a wider set of gear, while a settled farming build may prefer to emphasize likely upgrades and items with current market demand. If you are unsure whether an item should be hidden, adjust the filter conservatively and check what is appearing before making it stricter.

XD’s SS14 update log says that, with a loot filter enabled, hidden items no longer delay other drops. That is a specific documented behavior, not a general increase to drop rates. The same SS14 log lists a 0.03% chance for a specified Netherrealm medium talent to spawn an additional Beacon treasure chest under the monster-defeat condition stated for that talent. This is talent-specific and should not be read as the chance for Beacons or extra chests in ordinary farming generally.

Do not assume that a route, loot threshold, or farming target from an earlier season remains optimal. XD’s SS13 and SS14 update logs document changes to loot-related mechanics, showing why season-specific advice can age quickly. Use current official patch notes to verify mechanics that matter to your plan, and check the live Trade House for current item demand before deciding that a route is profitable.
As of October 13, 2026, the official material available here includes an SS14 update log, while the official store listing still displays promotional material for Afterlight. A search result for an official Tartarus announcement lists a preview for October 16, 2026—three days after this article’s date. That preview timing does not establish what Tartarus farming will involve, and precise strategies for that season should not be treated as confirmed until its official patch details and live market are available.

For the same reason, avoid carrying forward a precise currency-per-hour figure or old Timemark threshold without checking the version and conditions behind it. A guide’s results can be useful context, but seasonal mechanics, the build being used, player clear speed, and market liquidity all change what a route is worth.
Troubleshoot a farm that feels inefficient
Runs are slow or deaths are frequent
Drop to a difficulty where the character finishes more consistently, then address the main source of lost time or failed runs before trying the harder tier again. Use the guide’s Timemark 7 targets only as reference points; they are not proof that the tier suits your character. If the build is close to a comfortable threshold, compare its actual run pace and survival rather than focusing on its level alone.
You collect items but gain little FE
Separate displayed or listed prices from completed sales. Check whether buyers are actually taking the items you are collecting, then adjust the filter and route toward drops with current demand. The currency guide names Beacons, Compasses, Memories, materials, and useful gear as examples, not a promise that every item in those categories will sell for a worthwhile amount in every season.
You spend too much time between maps
Include preparation, sorting, listing, and material acquisition in your route comparison. A map that clears quickly may still produce a slow overall loop if it requires frequent interruptions or inputs that are difficult to obtain. Simplify what you pick up with a goal-specific filter, but retain enough visibility to avoid hiding items you need.

Check the current patch and market rather than assuming that your execution changed. Updates can affect loot behavior, while supply and demand can change the sale value of drops. Recalculate using completed sales and current material costs; if the route no longer fits your goal, choose another difficulty or target.
A practical farming plan
- Progress first: use Beacons to enter Netherrealm stages, clear toward the Plane Watcher, and defeat it to advance and earn Cinders for further unlocks.
- Set a stable farm: choose the highest difficulty you can clear repeatedly at a pace that remains worthwhile, not the highest tier you can barely survive.
- Decide what counts as value: identify whether the session is for progression, gear, a specific target, or FE from direct drops and sales.
- Set the filter: show the items relevant to that objective, and revise it as your needs or the season change.
- Track the full loop: compare completed maps, downtime, deaths, input costs, direct FE, and completed sales across more than one session.
- Reassess the route: use current patch information and Trade House demand; move up only when the added challenge improves your real results.
That plan avoids a false choice between “push higher” and “farm lower.” Progress when unlocks matter; repeat the tier that produces dependable results when farming matters. The best route is the one that fits your character, objective, current season, and actual market—not a universal recommendation or a single impressive hourly estimate.
