Follow the on-screen confirmation prompts. This permanently removes accounts, applications, settings and stored tablet data, so back up anything you can still access first.
Before you reset: understand what will be erased
Verizon’s Ellipsis 7 User Guide says a factory data reset erases all data from the tablet, including:
- Google and other email-account settings
- System and application data and settings
- Downloaded applications
The guide also describes an Erase tablet space option for removing user files such as music and photos. A reset is not a reversible operation. If the tablet still opens, copy photos and other files to another device or cloud service and make sure you know the account credentials needed during setup.
Reset the Ellipsis 7 from Settings
- From the Home screen, tap Apps.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Backup & reset.
- Select Factory data reset.
- Read the warning, choose the confirmation option, and complete any prompts shown on screen.
- Allow the tablet to restart. Verizon’s guide says it will prompt you to set the device up the next time it turns on.
Keep the tablet powered during the reset and initial restart. Interrupting power can leave an already-problematic device in a worse state.

Factory reset versus restart

For a frozen tablet, a restart may restore responsiveness, but it is not a substitute for the factory-reset command.
If the tablet cannot reach Settings
Try a basic restart first
iFixit’s third-party troubleshooting guidance recommends holding the power button to restart an unresponsive Ellipsis 7. This is troubleshooting advice, not Verizon’s factory-reset procedure. If a memory card is installed, iFixit also discusses removing it while diagnosing problems; copy any card data elsewhere before handling it.

Be cautious with button-combination instructions
The Verizon user guide documents the Settings-based reset but does not confirm a hardware-button recovery sequence for this model. Verizon Community discussions mention “no command” errors and a tablet stuck on a welcome screen. Some participants suggest key combinations, but those posts are anecdotal and do not establish a verified, universal method.
- Do not treat an on-screen “no command” message as proof that a wipe has completed.
- Do not assume a key combination that restarts the tablet also performs a factory erase.
- Avoid repeating unverified combinations if the tablet shows new symptoms or you risk losing access to needed files.
If Settings remains inaccessible after a restart, consult Verizon support or a qualified repair provider and identify the exact Ellipsis 7 model. The available official documentation does not provide a model-verified hardware recovery recipe to reproduce safely.

After the reset
- Wait for the setup screen to appear.
- Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile service when prompted.
- Sign in with the Google account you intend to use on the tablet.
- Reinstall only the applications you need and restore files from your backup.
If you are disposing of or selling the tablet, verify that the reset completed and that the setup screen—not your old Home screen—appears before handing it over.

The Ellipsis 7 is an older tablet, and a device that cannot reach Settings may have a fault that a reset will not fix. If support or repair cannot restore it, search specifically for a Verizon Ellipsis 7 tablet and check the exact model, physical condition, battery health and seller reliability before buying. Current stock and compatibility vary.
