Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallA factory reset on a Samsung Galaxy A51 erases locally stored data and returns the phone to its setup process. Use Settings if you can unlock and operate the phone; use Recovery only when Settings is unavailable, and check the instructions for your exact A51 variant before using its buttons. A reset does not bypass the screen lock or Google account verification.
What a hard reset does—and what you should know first
“Hard reset,” “master reset” and “factory reset” are commonly used to describe the same process: erasing the phone and returning it to setup. Google’s Android Help puts it plainly: “A factory reset erases all your data from your phone.” Data stored locally can be lost, so back up anything you want to keep before you begin. Google’s reset guidance explains that data saved to your Google Account may be restored, but apps and their data are uninstalled; do not assume every app or app datum will come back.

Before resetting, make sure you know the Google Account username and password associated with the phone. Sign in to that account on another device to confirm the credentials. If you changed the Google Account password recently, Google advises waiting 24 hours before resetting.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Back up wanted data and confirm that the backup is available.
- As general Android guidance—not an A51-specific guarantee—Google recommends charging the phone to at least 70% and having Wi-Fi or mobile connectivity available for setup.
- If you are giving the phone away, remove your Google Account from it before the reset to turn off device protection.
Choose the reset method
| Method | When to use it | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Settings | You can unlock and use the phone. | Use the on-screen factory data reset flow. This is the normal menu-based route. |
| Recovery | You cannot open Settings. | Use the device-specific button combination to open Recovery. The combination varies, and ownership verification may still be required afterward. |
Both routes erase local data. Neither is a way to bypass a screen lock or Google ownership checks. Samsung’s general instructions and Google’s reset guidance describe these limits. Samsung’s reset support page and Google’s Android reset guidance are useful references.

Reset a usable Galaxy A51 through Settings
- Open the phone’s Settings.
- Find the factory data reset option. Menu names and paths can differ across Android and One UI versions, so follow the labels shown on your phone rather than relying on one path as universal.
- Review the warning and the data listed for deletion, then confirm the factory data reset on screen.
- After the phone restarts, follow the setup prompts and sign in with the Google Account associated with the device if requested.
Samsung provides the reset flow in its mobile-device reset instructions. If the labels on your A51 differ, use the prompts displayed by your software version or consult the manual for the exact model.
Use Recovery only if Settings cannot be opened
Samsung’s button-based instructions describe powering off the phone, connecting it to a computer with a USB cable, opening Recovery with the device-specific button combination, choosing Wipe data/factory reset (wording may vary), confirming the wipe, and then choosing Reboot system now. The button combination varies by device.
Do not guess the A51 button timing or assume one combination applies to every regional variant and software revision. Samsung’s A51 support listing covers the SM-A515F/DSN family and provides multiple manuals, including an English Android 13 manual revised 2023-01-30. What happens after the reset
The phone returns to its setup process. You can restore data saved to your Google Account, but Google says apps and their data are uninstalled, so restoration is not a guarantee that every app or its contents will return. Google’s general Android guidance says a reset can take up to an hour; that is not a measured Galaxy A51 timing guarantee. Google Android Help: Reset your Android device to factory settings
Why the phone may ask for the previous lock or account
After a button-based reset, device protection may ask for the screen lock or the Google Account previously associated with the phone. This is an anti-theft ownership check, not a data-recovery step or a fault with the reset. Google explains this protection in its device-protection guidance.
If you cannot recover the account information, do not try to bypass verification. Samsung advises taking the device, along with proof of purchase, to an authorized Samsung service center. Samsung’s reset support page
