For a paginated document that is easier to read or annotate, use the browser’s Print command and save to an available PDF destination. A screenshot preserves pixels; printing follows the page’s print layout, which can change screen styling and pagination.
Choose between a screenshot and a print-generated PDF

Playwright describes a full-page screenshot as an image of the entire scrollable page, as if it were displayed on a very tall screen. Printing instead uses the browser’s print workflow. Capture and save a full-page image in Microsoft Edge
- Open the page you need in Edge.
- Open Settings and more, then choose Web Capture. The documented shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose Capture full page.
- Review the capture, then save it to your device.
Microsoft’s learning-center instructions describe this as Web Capture. A Microsoft policy result notes a rebrand to “Screenshot,” so the label may differ by browser version or administrative configuration. Check the menu you actually have; do not assume every Edge installation uses the same wording. The documented steps establish saving a screenshot, not direct PDF export from this capture tool. To deliver a PDF, insert the saved image into your report document and export that document as PDF, or use the browser’s print workflow below. Microsoft Edge Web Capture guidance.
Print a webpage to PDF in Edge
- Open the webpage and choose Settings and more > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS.
- In the print interface, choose an available PDF destination. The destination and labels depend on the operating system and configuration; a system print dialog may offer additional options.
- Adjust the available settings. Edge’s guidance covers including background graphics and printing selected page content: select the text or images, then use the context menu to print the selection. Where available, Immersive Reader can provide a less cluttered view for printing.
- Save the PDF, open the saved file, and check its page breaks, margins, backgrounds, clipping and legibility before using it in the report.

Automate full-page screenshots or PDF output
Playwright: capture a full-page screenshot
Playwright supports full-page screenshots and element-level captures. A minimal Node.js example for a full-page PNG is:

})();Install Playwright for your project and its browser before running the script. Replace the example URL with the page you are authorized to capture. For a focused exhibit, Playwright also supports taking a screenshot of a specific element. If page content is loaded lazily or changes after navigation, make sure it has appeared before capture; inspect the saved image rather than assuming every part rendered. Chrome Headless also documents --timeout as a maximum wait before capture, including when a page is still loading, and --virtual-time-budget to advance time-dependent page code for a chosen simulated interval. These options can help with dynamic pages, but they do not guarantee that every external asset or application state will load. Check the output PDF for missing content and pagination issues. Prepare the capture so it works as report evidence
- Choose the right scope: capture the full scrollable page for overall layout, a particular element or selection for a focused claim, or print output when page-based reading matters more than exact screen appearance.
- Check dynamic content: lazy-loaded sections, animations and time-dependent page code may not appear until the page has loaded or been scrolled. For scripted captures, use an appropriate wait or timing control and inspect the result.
- Check report readability: a full-page image can become very tall and difficult to read at normal document width. Consider a focused capture or multiple clearly labeled exhibits if the full image would be illegible.
- Keep the evidence verifiable: note the captured URL and, when relevant to the report, the date and time or the page state represented. Avoid implying that a screenshot proves content beyond what is visible in the saved file.
- Review the final artifact: open the exported image or PDF and verify that the relevant text, images, layout and page boundaries are present before submission.
Troubleshooting common capture problems
The screenshot is missing content near the bottom
The capture may have occurred before lazy-loaded content appeared. Scroll through the page before taking a manual capture, or in an automated workflow wait for the relevant content or use the documented timing controls. Then open the saved image and check the lower sections.
The PDF looks different from the website
Print output follows a print workflow, not necessarily the screen layout. Try enabling background graphics if the setting is available, and review the PDF’s pagination and margins. If visual fidelity is essential, use a screenshot and include it in the report instead.

The PDF destination is not visible
PDF destinations and labels depend on the operating system and configuration. Open the system print dialog if offered and check its available destinations. If no suitable PDF destination is available, save a full-page screenshot and export a report document containing it as PDF.
The saved page is clipped or hard to read
For print output, inspect page breaks, margins and scale in the print preview and saved file. For a full-page image, consider capturing a smaller region or using multiple exhibits rather than shrinking one very tall image until its text is unreadable.

Navigation completion does not ensure that every dynamic element has rendered. Wait for a relevant selector or a suitable load condition in Playwright; Chrome Headless documents --timeout and --virtual-time-budget for timing control. Verify the artifact after each adjustment.
