To download Reddit account data, submit a request through Reddit’s data-request form while signed in to the account you want. Reddit says preparing the archive may take up to 30 days. The official help pages also show how to view saved posts and comments, but they do not guarantee that the downloadable archive contains every item you have saved.
Request a copy of your Reddit data
- In a computer browser, open Reddit’s data-request form.
- Sign in to the Reddit account whose data you want, follow the form’s instructions, and submit the request.
- Wait for Reddit’s notification. Its Help Center, updated March 19, 2026, says preparing the archive may take up to 30 days. Reddit says it will send an inbox notification when the download is ready; in some cases, it may send the archive to the verified email address associated with the account.
- Download the archive and inspect its files for saved posts or comments. Keep a copy somewhere you control; if you want offline storage, you can also keep a second copy on an external drive.
Reddit’s account-data access page, updated March 20, 2026, lists saved posts and comments among account activity accessible after signing in. That is not a guarantee that the downloaded archive includes every saved item. Reddit’s published instructions do not specify the archive’s complete contents or explain how it handles deleted, unavailable, or very old posts.

View saved posts and comments in Reddit
- On reddit.com: Open your profile and choose the Saved tab.
- In the iOS or Android app: Open your profile menu and choose Saved.
This is the quickest way to revisit your saved items, but it is an in-account list rather than a downloaded backup. Reddit’s saved-post instructions say you can save posts to revisit later.
What might be in the downloaded archive?
Some Reddit users report that their exports include files named saved_posts.csv and saved_comments.csv. One user reported 2,092 entries in a saved-post file. These are individual user reports, not an official description, a platform-wide limit, or evidence that every account’s file is complete.

Even if an archive contains saved-item links, a list of links is not the same as a copy of the posts, comments, or linked media. The available official instructions do not establish that an export preserves content that was deleted or has become unavailable.
Official data request, Saved page, and third-party tools

A Chrome Web Store extension called “Recover & Export Saved Posts for Reddit” advertises visible-item exports in CSV, JSON, and Markdown, as well as a paid feature that imports Reddit data-export files to rebuild an archive. Those are the extension publisher’s claims, not independently verified results or a Reddit endorsement. Before using an extension or script, check its permissions, publisher, data handling, current compatibility, and whether it works through your logged-in session. Never give a third-party service your Reddit password or upload a private account archive to a service you do not trust.

What a Reddit API or export utility can—and cannot—promise
Reddit’s API documentation includes saved-listing and saved-category operations. That establishes that the API has concepts for saved items, but it does not establish a supported bulk-export route or a guarantee that an API client can retrieve your complete saved history or the full content behind every link. Treat API tools and extensions as separate from Reddit’s official data request, and check what they actually save: a list of links, post content, comments, or media.
