Playwright provides screenshot and PDF capture separately; neither its screenshot API nor its documented CLI command is a built-in arbitrary URL-list-to-combined-PDF workflow. Prepare a URL list and output plan
Put one URL per line in a text file named urls.txt. Remove blank lines and confirm that the URLs include their schemes, such as https://. Choose a filename convention and output type before the run. The script below numbers outputs in input order, which keeps the sequence predictable even when page titles are alike.

Install Playwright
- Install a current Node.js release if it is not already available.
- In a new project directory, run
npm init -y. - Install Playwright with
npm install playwright. - Install its browser with
npx playwright install chromium.
Capture a batch of full-page screenshots
Save the following as capture.mjs beside urls.txt. It visits each URL sequentially and writes a PNG for each page to screenshots/. Sequential capture is deliberate: it is simpler to troubleshoot and avoids opening an unbounded number of browser pages at once.

}Run it with node capture.mjs. The fullPage: true option captures the full scrollable page rather than only the visible viewport. The fixed viewport makes layout more consistent between pages, but responsive design means it will not show every device layout. To capture only the initial viewport, remove fullPage: true.

Adjust waiting for slow or dynamic pages
The example waits for networkidle, which can be unsuitable for pages that maintain background network connections or load content continuously. If navigation times out, try waitUntil: 'load' or waitUntil: 'domcontentloaded', then add a site-appropriate wait for the content you need. For example, after navigation you can wait for a known selector with await page.locator('main').waitFor(). No single wait condition guarantees that every site’s images, animations, or lazy-loaded sections have finished.

Make a PDF for each webpage instead
If the requested deliverable is a print-style PDF per URL, replace the screenshot call in the loop with PDF generation. Give the PDF options you need explicitly so the result is repeatable:

To use screen styling rather than the default print CSS, call await page.emulateMedia({ media: 'screen' }) before page.pdf(). A PDF may paginate or omit elements according to the page’s print styles, so inspect the output rather than assuming it matches a screenshot.
Combine screenshot images into one PDF
The capture script creates image files, not a combined PDF. To make a single document, pass the images to a PDF-capable tool and preserve their numbered order. Choose whether each image should occupy its own PDF page, and whether images should fit, fill, or retain their natural dimensions. Those choices affect cropping and whitespace; verify representative long and short pages before assembling the complete batch.

Review output before scaling up
- Open captures from the beginning, middle, and end of the list and confirm the numbering matches the intended order.
- Check long pages, image loading, overlays, cookie notices, and content that appears only after interaction.
- Check whether a page requires sign-in or site-specific steps; the general script does not handle authentication or interactive flows.
- Inspect full-page images for cut-off content and print PDFs for unexpected page breaks, missing backgrounds, or print-specific styling.
- Keep the source URL list with the output so that a failed or changed page can be identified and retried.
Common problems and fixes
Navigation times out
Some pages never become network-idle, while others load slowly. Try a less strict navigation condition such as load or domcontentloaded, increase the timeout for genuinely slow pages, and wait for the specific content selector you need. A timeout can still indicate an unavailable page, so check the URL in a browser.
Images or lower-page content are missing
Lazy-loaded content may not appear until it is scrolled into view. Full-page capture requests the whole page surface, but it does not guarantee every site’s lazy-loading logic has run. Review the output and add site-specific scrolling or waits when required.

The PDF looks different from the screenshot
PDF generation follows print CSS by default and paginates content. Use screen-media emulation before PDF generation only when screen styling is the intended result. If preserving the rendered appearance is more important than a paginated document, capture screenshots and assemble those images into a PDF.
A page shows a consent banner, popup, or chat widget
The local Playwright example does not automatically remove third-party overlays. Review the site and add permitted site-specific interaction or CSS handling if appropriate; do not assume a universal script can safely dismiss every banner or popup.
The run stops or produces a partial batch
Because filenames are based on input order, completed outputs remain identifiable. Check the last logged URL, resolve its navigation or access issue, and rerun after deciding whether to overwrite existing files or change the numbering scheme.
