ASUS BIOS Utility EZ Mode is a simplified UEFI/BIOS interface that shows quick settings and a few boot-related options. If you’re stuck in EZ Mode, the fix is usually just using the correct Exit or boot action—or switching to Advanced Mode and saving before leaving.
This guide walks you through the quickest ways to exit ASUS BIOS Utility EZ Mode and get back to Windows 11. It also covers the real reasons people get trapped (Fast Boot, wrong boot order, unsaved changes, or a BIOS that needs a clean reset).

What ASUS BIOS Utility EZ Mode is (and why you get stuck)
On many ASUS motherboards, EZ Mode is designed for fast navigation: it displays basic system info and a small set of frequently used controls. If your boot order, UEFI mode settings, or saved configuration is off, EZ Mode might appear every boot or feel like it won’t let you leave.

When you see “BIOS Utility” with a minimal layout, you’re almost always already in the right place—you just need to choose an exit path that either saves your state or explicitly proceeds to boot.

Before you start: confirm your BIOS state
Take 10 seconds to check what you’re seeing. Your exact labels vary by ASUS model and BIOS version, but these cues are consistent.
- EZ Mode screen: Mostly summary tiles, menus like My Favorites, Tool, Boot, and a visible help bar with hotkeys.
- Advanced Mode locked: You may see a prompt such as Press F7 for Advanced Mode.
- Unsaved changes: After edits, ASUS often shows an indicator or requires choosing Save & Exit.
Also confirm you’re not entering the BIOS because Windows 11 is failing to boot. If you recently changed storage (new SSD), disconnected a drive, or updated BIOS, that’s a strong clue.
Method 1: Exit directly from the EZ Mode screen
Most EZ Mode screens include an Exit option either at the top menu or via a keyboard hotkey. Use the shortest path that leaves the BIOS and boots.

- Select Exit and choose Save Changes & Exit (wording may be Save Changes and Exit) or Exit Without Saving if you made no changes.
- If prompted, confirm with Yes.
If Windows boots successfully, you’re done. If it loops back into EZ Mode, skip to Method 4 (boot device) or the troubleshooting checklist.
Method 2: Use hotkeys to leave EZ Mode and boot
ASUS BIOS hotkeys are usually shown in a help bar on screen. Even if the layout differs, these are the common actions.

- Press F10 to open the Save & Exit prompt (commonly used across ASUS UEFI setups).
- When you see a confirmation dialog, highlight Yes and press Enter.
If F10 doesn’t do anything in your BIOS build, look at the on-screen hotkeys and search for Exit and Save & Exit. On some ASUS boards, you can also use Esc repeatedly to reach the exit screen, then choose Exit.
Method 3: Switch to Advanced Mode, then exit
If you can’t find a reliable exit option in EZ Mode (or it keeps reloading), switching to Advanced Mode often exposes the full UEFI navigation and the correct save/exit controls.
- On the EZ Mode screen, press F7 to enter Advanced Mode.
- Find the menu labeled Exit (commonly at the top).
- Select Save Changes & Exit and confirm Yes.
If you didn’t change settings in Advanced Mode, choosing Discard Changes & Exit can be safer. Some BIOS builds track settings you didn’t realize were edited.
Method 4: Set the correct boot device (common Windows 11 fix)
If your Windows 11 drive isn’t first in the UEFI boot order, the system may fail to boot and drop you back into BIOS again. Fixing boot order is the most common “can’t exit to Windows” solution.
- Enter BIOS (EZ Mode or Advanced Mode).
- Open the Boot tab or the Boot Priority section.
- Find the list of boot devices (examples might include Windows Boot Manager, your NVMe SSD name, or UEFI: … entries).
- Move Windows Boot Manager or your Windows 11 UEFI entry to the top of the list.
- Save and exit: choose Save Changes & Exit (or press F10 if supported).
If you don’t see Windows Boot Manager, Windows might not have a valid UEFI entry (common after cloning, disk replacement, or changing SATA/NVMe modes). Jump to the troubleshooting checklist for recovery steps.

Method 5: Disable Fast Boot and retry exit
Some ASUS setups with Fast Boot can skip certain detection steps or behave oddly after hardware changes. Disabling Fast Boot can make the system exit BIOS more predictably.
- In BIOS, locate the Boot tab.
- Find Fast Boot (sometimes under Boot or CSM-related options depending on model).
- Set Fast Boot to Disabled.
- Save changes and exit.
After Windows loads, you can re-enable Fast Boot later if you want faster start times.
Method 6: Clear saved boot settings (when changes won’t apply)
If you’re making changes but the system still returns to EZ Mode, the BIOS may be holding onto a problematic saved state. Clearing settings forces a clean start.
- In BIOS, look for an option like Load Optimized Defaults (often in the Exit menu).
- Select Load Optimized Defaults.
- Choose Save Changes & Exit.
If the issue started after a BIOS update or a major hardware change, this can quickly restore expected UEFI behavior. You may need to re-check boot order after doing this.
Common gotchas and how to recover
- You edited something but didn’t save: Always confirm the BIOS asks you to save. If it boots back into BIOS, assume the changes didn’t persist.
- Wrong drive mode (UEFI vs Legacy/CSM): Windows 11 typically expects UEFI. If your BIOS is using Legacy/CSM mode, you may not see the correct “Windows Boot Manager” entry.
- Drive order reset: Some updates reset priorities. Re-check the top boot entry after any BIOS change.
- Keyboard focus issues: In some EZ Mode layouts, arrow keys/Enter work differently. Use only the keys shown in the on-screen legend.
- Corrupted/failed boot entry: If the boot manager entry is missing, changing boot order won’t help; you may need UEFI boot repair steps later.

If none of the exit methods immediately load Windows, use this ordered checklist. Each step reduces the most likely causes first.

1) Power cycle cleanly
- Shut down fully.
- Unplug the PC from power.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Plug back in and power on.
Then check whether the BIOS still appears every boot. If it does, continue.
2) Verify the physical drive is detected
- In BIOS, check the Storage or Information area for your NVMe/SSD.
- If the drive isn’t listed, reseat the M.2 drive or verify the SATA/NVMe connection.
No detected drive often means Windows can’t boot, so BIOS will keep returning.
3) Ensure UEFI boot is enabled
- Go to settings related to Boot Mode or UEFI/Legacy.
- Set boot mode to UEFI.
- Save and exit.
Windows 11 on modern ASUS boards usually expects UEFI. If you’re on an older board, labels may differ, but the concept stays the same.
4) Rebuild boot order to Windows Boot Manager
- In Boot Priority, set Windows Boot Manager as first.
- If it’s missing, use the BIOS to scan or add boot options (some UEFI screens include “Add New Boot Option” or a storage/boot selector).
If Windows Boot Manager can’t be found, you may need a Windows recovery repair (outside the BIOS).
5) Use Windows recovery to repair boot (if needed)
If BIOS settings are correct but Windows still won’t load, you likely need boot repair. Use Windows installation media to run Startup Repair or bootrec commands from recovery tools.

Why does my ASUS BIOS keep reopening after I choose Exit?
Most commonly, Windows can’t boot—either because the boot order is wrong, the Windows Boot Manager entry is missing, Fast Boot/UEFI mode doesn’t match the drive setup, or the storage drive isn’t detected.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Should I choose Save Changes & Exit or Exit Without Saving?
If you didn’t change anything, Exit Without Saving is safer. If you adjusted boot order or Fast Boot, use Save Changes & Exit so the system retains your fix.
What if I can’t find Windows Boot Manager in the BIOS boot list?
That usually means the UEFI boot entry is missing or the drive isn’t presenting a valid EFI system partition. Verify the drive is detected first, then check UEFI mode and boot options. If still missing, Windows recovery repair is likely required.
Does F7 always exit EZ Mode?
On most ASUS boards, F7 switches between EZ Mode and Advanced Mode, not exits BIOS entirely. After switching, you must still choose an Exit option and save/confirm.
Bottom Line
To exit ASUS BIOS Utility EZ Mode in Windows 11, start with the simplest path: use the EZ Mode Exit option (or F10 for Save & Exit), then confirm. If it loops back into BIOS, set Windows Boot Manager or the correct UEFI boot entry as the top priority and save again.
