If you started a scheduled encoder stream through YouTube Live Control Room, also click End Stream there. Confirm the broadcast has ended before changing the playlist or starting the replacement feed. Playlist repeat is a viewer playback setting, not the control for ending a live broadcast.
End the outgoing stream before changing its playlist
- Stop the encoder from sending content. In the encoder or streaming service currently feeding the broadcast, stop its output. YouTube’s encoder guidance says, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- End the scheduled stream in Live Control Room, if that is your workflow. For a scheduled encoder stream, YouTube instructs creators to click End Stream in Live Control Room and stop sending content from the encoder. Follow both actions for that workflow.
- Verify that the outgoing broadcast is over. Do this before replacing the source or playlist, so you do not mistake a playlist change for a broadcast shutdown.
- Update the playlist or source in the software you use, then start the replacement feed. The exact playlist-edit and restart controls depend on your encoder or streaming service; YouTube’s general instructions do not prescribe a universal sequence for third-party software.
Playlist repeat and live-stream termination are separate controls
YouTube documents playlist looping as a playback control: while watching a playlist video, use the playlist box to repeat playback. That repeats the playlist for viewers; it is not the documented method for ending a live broadcast. End the live feed at the encoder, and use Live Control Room’s End Stream for the scheduled encoder workflow. YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube – Computer

Check auto-stop settings on the replacement stream
YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings let a creator start or stop streaming from the encoder. If you reuse stream settings for the replacement, check those selections rather than assuming they match what you want. YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings

Optionally hand viewers to another event with Live Redirect
If you want viewers to continue to a Premiere or another live stream after the current broadcast ends, set the destination in advance in the source stream’s customization settings. Live Redirect is optional; it is not required to end the outgoing stream.

- The sending creator must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- Redirecting viewers to another channel requires that channel’s permission.
- YouTube advises allowing a few seconds for viewers’ screens to reload.

Check the archive if you need to keep the outgoing stream
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; a stream over 12 hours may not be captured at all. If keeping a long-running loop matters, check the archive afterward and keep a local recording as backup. YouTube Help: Archive live streams
