To redirect viewers to another channel’s live stream, that channel must first allow your channel to redirect to its content.
What YouTube Live Redirect does
Live Redirect sends viewers from your live stream to a selected Premiere or another channel’s live stream after your source stream ends. YouTube describes it as a way to build excitement for a Premiere or help another creator grow. The redirect is confirmed when the source stream ends.

Before you set up a redirect
Check sender eligibility
YouTube Help says creators sending a redirect need more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. This is the Live Redirect eligibility threshold; it is separate from the requirements for enabling live streaming on a channel.

You can select one of your own Premières or search for another channel’s live stream. A destination must be an active or upcoming live stream, or an upcoming Premiere. Another channel’s stream will only be available if that channel has permitted redirects from your channel.

Set up a Premiere first
If you are directing viewers to a Premiere, schedule it before your source live stream. YouTube recommends telling viewers to wait briefly after the stream ends while the destination loads.
How to add a Live Redirect to your stream
- Open YouTube Studio.
- Select Content, then open the Live tab.
- Hover over the live video you want viewers to leave from and select Edit.
- Open Customization.
- In the Redirect section, select Add.
- Select one of your Premières, or search for another channel’s live stream and choose it.
- When the source stream ends, look for YouTube’s confirmation that viewers will be redirected.
The same workflow applies when the source is a Premiere: edit it from Content > Live, then use Customization > Redirect > Add to choose a Premiere or another channel’s live stream.

How to allow another channel to redirect to yours
If your stream or Premiere does not appear as a destination, check your receiving permissions in YouTube Studio > Settings > Community. YouTube lists three permission options:
- Channels I subscribe to can redirect to my content: Available by default for channels you subscribe to, as long as your subscriptions are public.
- All channels can redirect to my content: Allows any channel to redirect to your content. You cannot use this option at the same time as the subscribed-channel setting or the specific-channel list.
- Specific channels who can redirect to my content: Manually approve channels; you can add up to 100. This option can be combined with permission for subscribed channels.
The other creator’s channel must have permission to redirect to your content, and your destination must be an active or upcoming live stream or an upcoming Premiere.

What viewers see during the handoff
YouTube describes the handoff as autoplay moving viewers to the chosen Premiere or live stream once the source ends. Viewers who have autoplay turned off must click Play to continue. Tell your audience where they are going and that they may need to wait briefly for the destination to load.
Troubleshooting a missing or unsuccessful redirect
The destination does not appear
- Confirm the destination is an active or upcoming live stream or an upcoming Premiere.
- If it belongs to another channel, ask that channel to check its redirect permissions in YouTube Studio > Settings > Community.
- If the receiving channel uses the subscribed-channel option, confirm the recipient subscribes to your channel and has public subscriptions.
You cannot add a redirect
Check that the sending channel meets YouTube’s Live Redirect eligibility criteria: more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Do not mistake this threshold for the separate live-streaming eligibility rules.

Viewers do not continue automatically
Some viewers have autoplay disabled and must click Play on the destination. Explain the handoff before ending the source stream, and allow a short pause for the destination to load.
