To enable third-party cookies in Chrome, open Settings and choose Allow third-party cookies. On a computer, find the control under Privacy and security; on Android, find it under Site settings. If only one website needs access, add an exception for that site instead of changing the default for every site.
What Chrome’s cookie setting controls
Chrome’s documented setting in these steps is specifically for third-party cookies, not a universal switch for every kind of cookie or site data. First-party cookies are created by the website you visit. Third-party cookies are created by other sites whose content is embedded in that page.

Allowing third-party cookies broadly can help features that rely on content from other sites work, but it can also permit cross-site activity access. Choose the broad setting only if that trade-off suits you; a site exception is narrower.

- Select Privacy and security > Third-party cookies.
- Select Allow third-party cookies.
Google Chrome Help documents this path for computer. The setting applies broadly rather than granting access to just one website. Chrome blocks third-party cookies by default in Incognito mode.

Allow access temporarily for the current computer site
If a site is not working and you want to test access without changing the default, use Chrome’s temporary third-party-cookie control for that site. In regular browsing, Chrome adds the site to the exception list for 90 days or until you turn the setting off. In Incognito, the temporary access lasts only for that session. These durations apply to Chrome’s computer instructions.
Enable third-party cookies on Android
- Open Chrome and tap More > Settings.
- Tap Site settings > Third-party cookies.
- Choose the setting you want: allow third-party cookies, block them in Incognito mode, or block them.
Allow one site on Android
To keep third-party cookies blocked by default but allow them for a particular site, tap + Add site exception and enter the site’s address. Android also provides a temporary per-site switch in the page information or cookies controls; Chrome says the site is added to the exception list automatically. Google’s Android guidance does not specify the same 90-day duration documented for computer, so do not assume the duration is identical.

Choose between a broad setting and a site exception

If a sign-in or website still does not work
- If a Google Account sign-in says cookies are turned off, enable them in Chrome and retry.
- If the error remains, try opening a new browser window.
- If the site still fails, try a site-specific exception before allowing third-party cookies broadly.
- On a work- or school-managed Chromebook, an administrator may control the setting. Contact the administrator if you cannot change it.
Google Chrome Help warns, “If you don’t allow sites to save cookies, sites may not work as expected.” Clearing cookies can be a later troubleshooting step, but it may sign you out of sites that remember you and remove saved preferences. Try less disruptive steps first.
