You can enable Super Chat on a looping YouTube live stream the same way you enable it on other eligible streams: in YouTube Studio, open Earn > Supers, select Get started, complete the prompts and switch on Super Chat. A loop does not have a separate Super Chat setting, but the channel and stream must meet YouTube’s eligibility and live-chat requirements.
Check eligibility before looking for the setting
YouTube makes the Supers controls available only to eligible channels. The channel must be in the YouTube Partner Program, its owner must be at least 18, Super Chat must be available in the channel’s location, and the channel must accept and comply with the applicable Commerce Product Module (CPM) or earlier Commerce Product Addendum. Even an eligible channel cannot offer Super Chat on every video or stream. It is unavailable on age-restricted, private or unlisted content, Made for Kids content, YouTube Giving fundraisers, and when live chat or comments are unavailable. The individual stream’s settings therefore matter as much as the channel’s eligibility.

- Sign in to YouTube Studio with the eligible channel.
- In the left menu, select Earn, then open Supers.
- Select Get started and follow the on-screen prompts. Accept the CPM if YouTube asks you to do so.
- Turn on the Super Chat switch. Super Stickers have a separate switch; enabling one does not automatically enable the other.
If you do not see Supers, YouTube says the area appears only when the channel is eligible. Check Partner Program status, age, location availability and the agreement step before troubleshooting the stream itself. YouTube may change Studio labels or availability over time, so the current controls shown in your account are authoritative.

Make sure viewers can actually send a Super Chat
Super Chat is a paid highlighted message in live chat, so live chat must be available for the stream. Viewers watching an embedded player cannot use live chat there; direct them to the stream’s YouTube watch page if chat is missing in an embed. YouTube explains chat access and restrictions in its live chat help.
For an encoder-based prerecorded loop, configure the broadcast using YouTube’s Live server URL and stream key in your encoder, then start sending the stream. YouTube supports multiple streaming methods and does not require a specific encoder just to enable Super Chat. See YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions.

Keep a looping stream eligible for monetization
A loop is not automatically disqualified, but repetition alone does not guarantee monetization eligibility either. YouTube’s channel monetization policy applies to live streams and says monetized content should be original and authentic; repetitive or mass-produced material with little variation or viewer value may be ineligible. Review the YouTube channel monetization policies and make the stream meaningfully valuable rather than simply replaying material without context or variation.

Know the archive limit for all-day streams
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is a replay-preservation caveat, not a stated rule that turns off Super Chat when a broadcast passes 12 hours. If keeping a complete replay matters, make a local recording as well. See YouTube’s live stream archiving guidance.
Troubleshoot common Super Chat problems
- Supers is missing in Studio: confirm the channel is accepted into YPP, meets the age requirement, is in a supported location, and has completed any required CPM or addendum step.
- Super Chat is unavailable on this stream: check that the stream is public rather than private or unlisted, is not age-restricted or Made for Kids, is not a YouTube Giving fundraiser, and has live chat enabled.
- Viewers cannot find chat: ask them to open the YouTube watch page rather than an embedded player, and confirm chat has not been disabled.
- The loop is running but replay is missing or incomplete: streams over 12 hours may not be archived by YouTube. Preserve a local recording if the replay is important.
- Monetization is limited or removed: review whether the loop provides original value and whether you hold the rights to all included content; looping does not exempt a stream from channel monetization policies.
