On a PS5 Pro, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output and check Enhance PSSR Image Quality. Sony says it is on by default. That setting does not add PSSR to every game: to check a title, look for it on Sony’s current Enhanced PSSR support list and review the game’s update notes. Sony does not document a per-game indicator that confirms PSSR is active in the current session.
What the PSSR setting does
PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) is a PS5 Pro feature: Sony describes it as an AI upscaling library that processes game imagery as it upscales it. The console setting applies to games that support PSSR; switching it on does not make unsupported games use the technology. Sony says results vary by title.

Sony’s guide calls the setting Enhance PSSR Image Quality. It is available for consoles in the CFI-7000 model group, which Sony identifies as PS5 Pro. See Sony’s PS5 resolution and video output guide.
Enable or inspect Enhance PSSR Image Quality
- On the PS5 Pro home screen, open Settings.
- Select Screen and Video > Video Output.
- Find Enhance PSSR Image Quality and check its current state. Sony says it is on by default.
- If the option is missing, confirm that the console is a PS5 Pro in the CFI-7000 model group and that its system software is current.
If a compatible game looks worse or produces unexpected visual effects with the option enabled, Sony says you can turn it off. The effect is title-specific.

Check whether a game supports Enhanced PSSR
Check the title against Sony’s PS5 Pro page, under “Supported titles with Enhanced PSSR.” The US page checked October 3, 2026 listed:
- Resident Evil Requiem
- SILENT HILL f
- SILENT HILL 2
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
- Alan Wake 2
- Control
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard
- Nioh 3
- Rise of the Ronin
- Crimson Desert
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows
- Cyberpunk 2077
This is a dated snapshot, not a permanent or exhaustive list. Sony may update the page, and support can depend on a game update. Check the title’s latest patch notes as well as Sony’s list; Sony’s March 16, 2026 announcement about the upgraded PSSR rollout also describes adoption across games.
Can you confirm PSSR is active in a particular session?
Sony’s published materials explain the system setting and identify supported titles, but do not document an in-game status icon or other session-level indicator. So, a title appearing on the support list and the system option being on establish that the game supports the feature and that the console setting allows it; they do not independently prove what rendering is active at a particular moment.

A sharper-looking image is not reliable proof by itself. Sony says results vary by title, and its March announcement describes image clarity, stability and performance as aims while reporting developer observations—not a guarantee for every game or player. For a specific title, use Sony’s support list and the game’s current update notes rather than relying on visual judgment alone.

PS5 Pro has a separate option named Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games. It is not the PSSR setting. Use Enhance PSSR Image Quality under Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output when checking the PSSR system option.
