What viewers can do with DVR
With DVR enabled, viewers can pause, rewind, and resume while the stream is live. Resuming continues from the point where they paused. DVR does not let a viewer seek to a point before the live stream began. YouTube Help
What changes on a 24/7 broadcast
Rewind may be limited after 12 hours
YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Apple TV, Apple AirPlay, and older versions of the YouTube app have lower rewind limits. YouTube does not promise a specific rewind window for a continuous 24/7 stream, so the available rewind range can vary and should not be presented as the full broadcast. YouTube Help
Changing DVR while live
You can change the DVR setting during a live broadcast. YouTube says the change applies to viewers who start playing the stream after the change; it does not promise an immediate change for people already watching. YouTube Help

Turning DVR off
If DVR is disabled, viewers cannot seek backward during the live broadcast. They may still be able to watch the full recording after the stream ends, if a replay is available. YouTube says disabling DVR is not supported for webcam and mobile streams. YouTube Help
DVR and the saved replay are different
DVR controls pausing and rewinding while a stream is live. Archiving controls whether YouTube saves a replay after it ends. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. For a 24/7 broadcast, do not rely on YouTube’s replay as the only copy: YouTube recommends keeping a local recording backup. YouTube Help: Archive live streams
Encoder setup does not control DVR
An encoder supplies and sends the video feed; the DVR switch remains in Live Control Room. For an encoder-based stream, YouTube’s setup flow is to create or schedule the stream, copy its server URL and stream key into the encoder, start sending the feed, check the preview, and then go live. YouTube also says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived in its encoder guidance. YouTube Help: Set up your encoder for live streaming

Latency is a separate setting
Latency is the delay between the camera or encoder capturing an event and viewers seeing it. YouTube notes that choosing lower latency may increase playback buffering. Latency does not determine whether DVR is enabled. YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions
