To enable Assist Mode in CONTROL Resonant, pause the game and open Options → Gameplay → Assist Mode. Turn it on, optionally choose a preset as a starting point, then adjust individual combat settings and return to gameplay. You can change Assist Mode during a playthrough, and Remedy says using it does not block trophies or achievements.
How to turn on Assist Mode
- Pause gameplay.
- Open Options, then select the Gameplay tab.
- Open Assist Mode and enable it.
- Choose a preset if you want a starting point, then fine-tune the available settings.
- Leave Options to resume playing.

What the presets do—and what is known about them
The named choices are Custom, Field Agent, Strategist, and Ranger. A preset gives you a starting configuration; you can then adjust individual parameters. Remedy’s Help Center confirms that preset-and-fine-tune workflow but does not publish a setting-by-setting comparison of the presets. Their names alone are not enough to establish which is easiest or hardest, so check the current descriptions in the game rather than assuming a particular profile.
Choose settings for the obstacle you want to address
Assist Mode adjusts specific combat mechanics rather than applying only one overall difficulty level. Remedy describes the following options and effects:

The settings let you target a particular difficulty: for example, adjust dodge timing or damage taken without necessarily changing every other combat mechanic. They can also increase difficulty. Remedy specifically cites increasing Enemy Aggression or Incoming Damage and reducing the Perfect Dodge Window as ways to make combat more challenging.
Assist Mode is separate from control remapping
Assist Mode is in Options → Gameplay. To remap buttons, open Options → Controls instead. Remedy lists mouse and controller sensitivity and inversion, controller stick swapping, adaptive triggers, and haptics among the controls options; these are distinct from Assist Mode’s combat adjustments.
Check the current menu for version-specific options
Remedy’s official Steam announcement says update 1.4.0, dated October 1, 2026, added Power Core Charge Duration to Assist Mode as a 100–300% duration multiplier. The Help Center’s listed settings do not include this option, so the available menu may differ by game version. Check the settings shown in your installed build rather than treating the Help Center list as exhaustive.
Combat balance has also changed since launch: Remedy’s hotfix 1.3.3 announcement says it reduced base health and required Falter level for most enemies and certain bosses, and increased maximum Aberrant and Ability Strength. That context can affect how combat feels, independently of your Assist Mode choices.

Remedy states that using Assist Mode does not prevent you from earning trophies or achievements. Its stated design is to let players adjust the specific things getting in their way rather than forcing a choice of overall difficulty.
