PS5 AI upscaling is Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), a feature for compatible games on PS5 Pro. To check its console setting, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality. Sony says it is on by default and available only on consoles in the CFI-7000 model group. Your TV displays the console’s output; it does not turn PSSR on.
How to enable PSSR on PS5 Pro
- Confirm your console is a PS5 Pro in Sony’s CFI-7000 model group. The setting is limited to that group, according to Sony’s PS5 4K resolution support page.
- From the PS5 home screen, open Settings.
- Select Screen and Video, then Video Output.
- Choose Enhance PSSR Image Quality. Sony says the option is enabled by default. If it is off, turn it on; you can return to this menu to turn it off if a game behaves unexpectedly.
- Launch a game that supports PSSR. The setting does not apply the feature to every PS5 game.
What PSSR does—and what it does not do
PSSR stands for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. Sony describes it as AI-enhanced resolution for compatible PS5 Pro games, with support and results varying by title. Check the game’s current feature information if you want to know whether a particular title uses it; do not assume every game does. See Sony’s PS5 Pro feature page for its description of compatible games and AI-enhanced 4K play.

The console performs the feature. A TV picture mode or other television setting is not a substitute for the PS5 Pro option, and Sony’s cited materials do not specify a particular TV brand or model for enabling PSSR.
What TV do you need for PS5 Pro PSSR?
Sony describes PSSR-enhanced play at 4K resolution on a 4K TV. The television is the display for the console’s output; the PSSR control remains in the PS5 Pro’s Video Output settings. The cited Sony pages do not establish that you must buy a new TV or use a particular model to enable the feature.

Why can’t I find the Enhance PSSR Image Quality option?
- Check the console model. Sony limits the setting to the CFI-7000 model group. Owners of the original PS5 or PS5 Slim should not expect this PS5 Pro setting to appear.
- Check the game. If the option is present but you do not see an expected change, confirm that the specific game supports PSSR. Support and results vary by title.
- Return to the console menu. The relevant control is under Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output; a TV picture preset does not enable PSSR.
