Turn on Title bar window shake
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Accessibility, then Visual effects.
- Turn on Title bar window shake. Microsoft describes the setting as a way to quickly minimize all open windows except the one you are working on: Microsoft’s Windows accessibility guidance.
Use Aero Shake to clear other windows
Grab the title bar of the window you want to keep visible and shake it. The other open windows should minimize. This describes the conventional gesture implied by the setting’s name; Microsoft’s cited guidance confirms the outcome but does not spell out the physical gesture.

To bring minimized windows back, use the taskbar or restore them individually. Microsoft’s cited guidance does not document a specific restoration procedure.

If the setting is missing
First check that you are using Windows 11 and are looking under Settings > Accessibility > Visual effects. The cited Microsoft guidance does not specify build or edition requirements, policy restrictions, or a fix for a missing toggle. Avoid applying registry changes based on an unverified diagnosis; if the setting is still absent, note your Windows edition and build when seeking further help.
