Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo use Enhanced PSSR, update your PS5 Pro system software, then check Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality. The setting is available only on Sony’s CFI-7000 model group (PS5 Pro), and Sony says it is on by default. You also need a compatible game; there is no separate PSSR app or download.
Before you start: confirm your console is a PS5 Pro
Sony limits the Enhance PSSR Image Quality option to the CFI-7000 model group, which Sony identifies as PS5 Pro. Standard PS5 models do not have this setting. If the option is missing, first confirm the console model rather than looking for a separate PSSR download. See Sony’s PS5 Pro feature page.

Update PS5 Pro system software
- From the PS5 home screen, open Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
- If the console shows Update Available, choose Update System Software and follow the on-screen prompts.
- After the update completes, return to the home screen. Sony’s PS5 system software instructions also explain automatic updates.
Sony began a phased rollout of the upgraded PSSR system software on March 16, 2026, and said players could check manually in system settings. Availability can depend on the rollout reaching your console.

Check whether your game supports Enhanced PSSR
Having the setting enabled does not mean every PS5 game uses it. PSSR support and results are title-specific; some games receive a title update to integrate the upgraded version. Sony’s PS5 Pro page lists these titles under Supported titles with Enhanced PSSR: Resident Evil Requiem, SILENT HILL f, SILENT HILL 2, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Alan Wake 2, Control, Monster Hunter Wilds, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Nioh 3, Rise of the Ronin, Crimson Desert, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Cyberpunk 2077. That is Sony’s published list at the time of writing; check the page for additions and each game’s available updates.

PSSR stands for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. Sony describes it as an AI library that analyzes each frame pixel by pixel while upscaling game visuals. Sony says the upgraded version improves image stability, fine-detail clarity, and performance consistency in supported titles. These are not guaranteed identical gains across games, and Sony does not state a universal performance percentage. The result depends on each game’s support and implementation. Sony’s March 16, 2026 rollout announcement describes the upgrade and notes that players can turn the option off if they encounter unexpected visual effects.
