1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo use PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), you need a PS5 Pro. In Settings, turn on Enhance PSSR Image Quality, then check how it looks in each supported game you play. Sony says results vary by title, and you can switch the option off if it causes unexpected visual effects.
How to turn on PSSR on PS5 Pro
-
Make sure your PS5 Pro is running current system software. Sony’s update route is Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings > Update System Software. Choose the update option if one is offered. See Sony’s PS5 system software update instructions.

Open the PS5 Pro settings and enable Enhance PSSR Image Quality. That is the setting name Sony publishes. Sony’s published instructions do not specify a full menu breadcrumb for the toggle, so the exact screen location may depend on the console software version.

Where is “Enhance PSSR Image Quality”?
Look in PS5 Pro settings for the toggle named Enhance PSSR Image Quality. Sony’s current PS5 Pro product page names the setting and tells players to turn it on, but does not give a more specific menu path. Avoid relying on a guessed breadcrumb if the label is not where you expect; check for system software updates and look for the exact setting name.
What the setting changes—and what it does not promise
PSSR is Sony’s AI-based upscaling technology. Sid Shuman, Senior Director of Sony Interactive Entertainment Content Communications, described it as “an AI library that analyzes each frame pixel by pixel as it upscales game visuals” in Sony’s March 16, 2026 rollout announcement.
The enhanced image-quality option applies to PS5 Pro games that support PSSR, including titles originally designed for the first version. It is not a universal switch that improves every game: Sony explicitly says, “Results will vary by title.” The official materials do not establish a guaranteed frame-rate increase or a single best setting for every player.
Should you leave it on or turn it off?
Start with the option enabled, then compare the same scene in the same game on your display. If you see unexpected effects or prefer the image with the option disabled, turn it off and compare again. Sony says players can disable it if unexpected visual effects appear; whether enabled or disabled looks better depends on the title and your viewing conditions.

Which PS5 Pro games support enhanced PSSR?
Sony’s current US PS5 Pro page lists these examples under “Supported titles with Enhanced PSSR”:
- Resident Evil Requiem
- SILENT HILL f
- SILENT HILL 2
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
- Alan Wake 2
- Control
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Dragon Age: The Veilguard
- Nioh 3
- Rise of the Ronin
- Crimson Desert
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows
- Cyberpunk 2077
The list can change. Check Sony’s current supported-title list for a particular game rather than assuming that every PS5 Pro-enhanced title uses enhanced PSSR. Sony’s separate count of more than 100 PS5 titles enhanced for PS5 Pro covers the broader PS5 Pro enhancement category, not the number of enhanced-PSSR games.
Does PSSR work on the regular PS5?
No. This PSSR setting is for PS5 Pro; it is not available on the base PS5. The console required to use the feature is the PS5 Pro.
