Check whether your Samsung TV supports AirPlay
AirPlay is available on select Samsung TVs, not every Smart TV. Samsung’s US guidance covers select models from 2018–2025, while its UK guide lists particular model families from 2018 onward. Those year ranges do not guarantee that every TV from those years is compatible. Check your exact model’s documentation or look in the TV menu for Apple AirPlay Settings; Samsung’s UK guide says that menu indicates compatibility. Samsung’s UK AirPlay 2 guide and Samsung’s US streaming guide provide regional model information.

Turn AirPlay on in the TV settings
- Press the remote’s Settings button, or open Settings or All Settings from the TV’s Home screen.
- Open General or Connection, then select Apple AirPlay Settings. Samsung’s menu paths differ by model year and software: newer sets may place the option under Connection, while other guides show it under General. Follow the labels on your TV. See Samsung US, Samsung UK, and Samsung Singapore.
- Select AirPlay and switch it on if it is off.
Adjust AirPlay’s code and other settings
In Apple AirPlay Settings, the available controls vary by model. Samsung lists these options on supported TVs:

- Reset Paired Devices: Clear devices the TV has remembered so they must pair again.
- Subtitles and Captioning: Turn captions on or adjust their appearance where these controls are offered.
- About AirPlay: View the AirPlay version and legal information on models with this menu item.

Connect an iPhone or iPad to the TV
Connect the TV and Apple device to the same Wi-Fi network. Then choose the method that matches what you want to share:
- Stream a photo or video: Open it on the Apple device, tap its Share or AirPlay control, and select the Samsung TV.
- Mirror the screen: Open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, and choose the TV. If a code appears on the TV, enter it on the Apple device.
Samsung’s AirPlay connection guidance says that most mobile hotspots do not allow connected devices to communicate with one another, so a hotspot may prevent AirPlay even when both devices appear connected to it.

Troubleshoot missing or unavailable AirPlay settings
The AirPlay option is grayed out or devices will not connect
Confirm that the TV is online and that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Samsung identifies network problems as a reason AirPlay can appear grayed out. If the option remains unavailable, Samsung’s suggested later step is a Smart Hub reset: open Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > Reset Smart Hub. The default PIN is 0000. A Smart Hub reset affects Smart Hub, so try the network checks first. See Samsung’s grayed-out menu troubleshooting guide.
Apple AirPlay Settings is missing
Check the support page for your exact TV model. Compatibility is selective, and Samsung’s regional model lists are not identical. If your model is listed as compatible but the setting is absent, consult Samsung support for model- or software-specific steps. An external app or accessory does not add the native Apple AirPlay Settings menu to an unsupported Samsung TV.

The TV displays a code
Enter the code shown on the TV into the Apple device to continue pairing.

You can use an Apple TV 4K as a separate AirPlay receiver connected to the television. Apple documents streaming and mirroring from an iPhone to Apple TV 4K in its AirPlay streaming guide and Apple TV 4K guide. This provides an external destination; it does not enable Samsung’s built-in AirPlay settings on an unsupported TV.
