To manage address autofill on company-managed Windows PCs, deploy Microsoft Edge’s AutofillAddressEnabled policy. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Settings → Microsoft Edge → Configuration Policies → Create Policy, add Enable AutoFill for addresses, choose the required state, assign a Microsoft Entra group, and verify the result in Intune and edge://policy.
The policy controls saved address details such as names, street addresses, cities, regions, postal codes, and countries. It does not control passwords, payment cards, memberships, address-bar suggestions, or website account data.

What each policy state does
| State | Effect in Edge |
|---|---|
| Enabled | Address autofill is available and users can manage it in Edge settings. This value does not, by itself, prove that every user is forced to use autofill. |
| Disabled | Edge does not suggest, fill, or save address information. Previously saved addresses are unavailable for autofill. |
| Not configured | Users can manage address autofill themselves. |
Microsoft documents the policy as per-profile, mandatory or recommended, with dynamic refresh. It does not apply to a profile signed in with a Microsoft account. See the official policy reference: AutofillAddressEnabled.

- Windows devices must be enrolled and managed by Microsoft Intune for the cloud workflow.
- You need an Intune role that can create configuration policies and assign groups.
- The policy supports Microsoft Edge 77 or later on Windows. Microsoft also lists support for macOS 77+, Android 69+, and iOS 145+, but the procedure here targets managed Windows devices.
- Prepare a test Microsoft Entra security group containing at least one suitable user or device.
- Use a current Edge installation and test in the intended managed work profile, not a personal Microsoft-account profile.
For Edge policy management through Intune, see Microsoft’s Intune configuration guidance.

Configure the policy in Microsoft 365 admin center
The Microsoft 365 admin experience exposes an Intune-backed Edge policy. Labels can change slightly between portal releases, so use the policy identifier as the reliable search term.
- Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- Open Settings, select Microsoft Edge, then open Configuration Policies.
- Select Create Policy.
- In Basics, enter a descriptive name such as
Edge - Enable Address Autofill. Add a description recording the owner, scope, and intended users. Choose Intune as the policy type and Windows 10 and Windows 11 if those fields are displayed. - Open Settings and select Add settings.
- Search for
AutofillAddressEnabledor Enable AutoFill for addresses. - Open the setting’s Value tab and choose Enabled, Disabled, or leave it unconfigured according to your policy decision.
- Select Save, Select, or the equivalent confirmation control.
- Continue to Assignments and choose the intended Microsoft Entra security group. Start with a small pilot group.
- Review the configuration, select Review and Create, and confirm that the policy appears in the Edge configuration-policy list.
This menu sequence is documented in the HTMD walkthrough: Enable Autofill for Addresses in Microsoft Edge.
Use the Intune Settings Catalog instead
Organizations already managing Windows settings directly in Intune can create the same configuration from the Settings Catalog:
Rank #2
- Open the Microsoft Intune admin center.
- Go to Devices, then Configuration or Configuration policies.
- Create a new policy for the applicable Windows platform and choose Settings catalog.
- Search for Microsoft Edge settings and open Microsoft Edge → Password Manager and Protection.
- Configure Enable AutoFill for addresses and choose the required value.
- Assign the policy to a pilot group, create it, and monitor device and user status.
Microsoft lists the setting’s catalog location at Microsoft Edge data-security Settings Catalog guidance. The broader Edge-on-Intune process is described at Configure Microsoft Edge with Intune.
Choose availability, recommendation, or enforcement
Enable availability
Use Enabled when managed users should have address autofill available and may control it in Edge settings. This is useful for known users completing repetitive business forms.
Recommend a default
A recommended Edge policy establishes a default while allowing users to override it. Confirm the policy mode exposed by your management profile before describing the setting as enforced.
Rank #3
Enforce a restriction
A mandatory policy is intended for administrative enforcement. Use a mandatory disabled value on shared, public, kiosk, classroom, or lab devices, or where storing personal and customer addresses conflicts with policy.

Remember the related ML policy
EdgeAutofillMlEnabled controls machine-learning-powered autofill suggestions separately. Microsoft states that disabling AutofillAddressEnabled also disables the ML autofill policy; disabling the ML policy alone should not be treated as disabling all ordinary address autofill. See EdgeAutofillMlEnabled.
Understand assignment and profile behavior
Assignment scope is significant. A device assignment can affect users who sign in on that device, while a user assignment follows the assigned user. Exclusions, assignment filters, competing management channels, and profile context can change the result; there is no universal winner that should be assumed without checking the tenant and policy reports.
The policy is stored through the Edge ADMX policy MSEdge.admx. For traditional Group Policy, the mandatory path is Administrative Templates/Microsoft Edge; the recommended path is Administrative Templates/Microsoft Edge - Default Settings (users can override). The Windows registry location is SOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftEdge, with a REG_DWORD value named AutofillAddressEnabled; a disabled value is 0x00000000. Details are in Microsoft’s policy documentation.
Synchronize and monitor deployment
- Confirm the target device is enrolled, active, and a member of the assigned group.
- From the Windows Company Portal, start a manual sync, or use the device’s Intune sync action.
- In Intune, review the policy’s device and user assignment status. Investigate Pending, Error, and Not applicable reports rather than relying only on creation success.
- Allow the device to check in, then refresh Edge policies on the client.
The HTMD deployment example also checks Event Viewer → Applications and Services Logs → Microsoft → Windows → DeviceManagement-Enterprise-Diagnostics-Provider → Admin. It identifies Event ID 814 as a successful policy-setting event and discusses Event ID 813; treat those interpretations as deployment-example guidance and use current Microsoft diagnostics when investigating other builds.
Verify the policy and the feature separately
Check Edge policy receipt
- Open Edge and enter
edge://policyin the address bar. - Select Reload policies.
- Search for
AutofillAddressEnabled. - Confirm the value, source, and any conflict or error message.
A value shown in edge://policy proves receipt by that Edge profile; it does not prove that a particular website exposes recognizable address fields.
Best Value
Check the user-facing setting
Open Edge → Settings → Profiles → Personal info and inspect the address-autofill controls. Labels can vary by Edge release. Test with a controlled internal page or reputable non-sensitive form: verify that a saved address suggestion appears and, where allowed, that a newly entered address can be saved. Do not use real customer, employee, payment, or home-address data for testing.
Troubleshoot common failures
The setting is missing from the portal
- Search both
AutofillAddressEnabledand Enable AutoFill for addresses. - Look under Microsoft Edge’s Password Manager and Protection category in Settings Catalog.
- Check the selected platform, policy type, portal experience, and your Intune permissions.
- Account for portal label changes; the identifier is more stable than screenshots.
The assignment remains pending or errors
- Check enrollment and last check-in time.
- Verify group membership, exclusions, and assignment filters.
- Look for conflicting policies or another management channel.
- Confirm the device runs a supported Windows and Edge version, then synchronize again.
The policy is visible but autofill does not work
- Confirm the test uses the managed work profile; Microsoft says the policy does not apply to a Microsoft-account profile.
- Make sure the user has saved address data and that the browser has refreshed its policy state.
- Test a form whose fields are recognized as address fields; site scripts or markup can block autofill.
- Do not test password or payment fields, which use separate policy areas.
Saved addresses disappear after disabling
This is expected. A disabled policy stops Edge from suggesting, filling, or saving address information, and existing saved addresses are not available for autofill. It is not merely a hidden settings toggle and is not a complete browser data-loss-prevention control.
Security and operational choice
- Prefer enabled or recommended on company-managed devices assigned to known users when reducing repetitive form entry is valuable and local address storage is acceptable.
- Prefer disabled and mandatory on shared, public, kiosk, classroom, or lab devices, or where sensitive address data must not be retained in browser autofill.
- Document who owns the policy, which groups receive it, and how users should handle personal information.
- Review browser privacy, identity, retention, and data-loss-prevention controls separately; this single policy does not replace them.
Other management options
Intune Settings Catalog is the natural cloud option for organizations already managing Windows through Intune. Traditional Group Policy suits domain-joined or hybrid environments that already maintain Microsoft Edge ADMX templates. Microsoft’s central catalog at Microsoft Edge policies provides supported policy names, versions, and related settings. Edge itself is documented for business use at Microsoft Edge for Business.
