To emulate the iPhone 12 mini’s portrait layout in Chrome, use DevTools Device Mode with a 360 × 780 CSS-pixel viewport and device pixel ratio (DPR) 3. Choose a mobile device type if you need touch events, then capture either the visible viewport or the full page.
Set up the iPhone 12 mini viewport in Chrome
- Open the page you want to capture in Chrome, then open DevTools: select ⋮ > More tools > Developer tools, or use the browser’s DevTools keyboard shortcut.
- Toggle the device toolbar with the phone-and-tablet icon in DevTools, or press Ctrl+Shift+M on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+M on macOS.
- In the device toolbar’s device selector, choose Responsive. Enter 360 for width and 780 for height.
- Open the device toolbar’s additional settings and set DPR (device pixel ratio) to 3. If you are testing touch-oriented interactions, select a mobile device type rather than a desktop type.
- Keep the viewport in portrait for the standard layout. To check landscape, rotate the emulated viewport using the rotate control.
- Open DevTools’ More options menu and choose Capture screenshot for the visible viewport or Capture full size screenshot for the whole page.
Chrome’s Device Mode controls and screenshot options are documented in its Device Mode guide. Apple’s layout table lists the iPhone 12 mini at 360 × 780 points, corresponding to 1080 × 2340 pixels at 3×; see Apple’s layout guidance.

Why the viewport is 360 × 780 at DPR 3
The CSS viewport is the logical layout area websites use for responsive design. For the iPhone 12 mini, Apple’s developer layout reference gives dimensions of 360 × 780 points. For this Chrome setup, use those logical dimensions as CSS pixels. The DPR of 3 represents the relationship between logical CSS pixels and device pixels, yielding a 1080 × 2340-pixel image for a viewport-sized capture.
Apple’s technical specifications separately describe the display as 2340 by 1080 pixels at 476 ppi. Those are physical display specifications, not CSS viewport dimensions; entering 1080 × 2340 as the CSS viewport would not emulate the phone’s normal page layout. See Apple’s iPhone 12 mini specifications.

Choose the right device behavior and screenshot scope
Mobile versus Mobile (no touch)
Device Mode’s mobile device type uses mobile viewport behavior and fires touch events. Mobile (no touch) retains mobile rendering but fires click events instead. Use the touch-enabled mobile setting when interactions depend on taps, swipes, or touch event handling; viewport dimensions alone do not turn on touch behavior.
Viewport versus full-page capture
- Capture screenshot: saves what is currently visible inside the emulated viewport.
- Capture full size screenshot: captures page content beyond the visible fold as well.
For a full-page capture, remember that the resulting image is taller than the phone’s screen. Use the viewport capture when you need an image representing the initial screen area.

What Chrome emulation can and cannot validate
Device Mode is useful for checking responsive layout and producing consistent screenshots at a chosen viewport. It is not an iPhone, and it does not run the page in iOS Safari. Chrome describes Device Mode as a “first-order approximation” of how a page looks and performs on a mobile device.
Desktop emulation cannot establish every browser API, CSS-support, operating-system, hardware, or performance difference. Chrome notes that mobile CPU architecture differs from desktop hardware, and recommends testing on actual devices when certainty about browser-specific behavior matters. For iOS-specific behavior, validate on real iPhone hardware or an appropriate iOS testing environment; see Chrome’s guidance on emulating and testing other browsers.

ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot from one GET request. Its screenshot API accepts viewport and DPR options; consult the ScreenshotNeo documentation for the current parameter names and setup details.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Adapt the target URL and configure the capture for the 360 × 780 viewport and DPR 3. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie or consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Frequently Asked Questions
Will this make Chrome behave exactly like iOS Safari?
No. It approximates viewport and some mobile input behavior in desktop Chrome; it does not reproduce iOS Safari or iPhone hardware.
Should I enter 1080 × 2340 as the viewport?
No. Use 360 × 780 CSS pixels and DPR 3. The larger dimensions are the corresponding device-pixel size, not the logical layout viewport.
