Before publishing, check which sheet or cells are exposed and who can view the published file.
Publish the sheet and copy its embed code
- Open the spreadsheet in Google Sheets and select File > Share > Publish to web.
- Choose whether to publish the entire spreadsheet or an individual sheet. Select a format if the dialog offers one.
- Publish the selection. In the dialog, choose Embed; publish again if prompted, then copy the generated HTML.
Google’s dialog provides the embed code and lets you control what is shown. Its documented iframe options include gid for the sheet, range for a cell range, widget for sheet tabs, headers for row numbers and column letters, and chrome for the title and footer. Add the iframe to a WordPress page or post
- In WordPress, open the page or post where the spreadsheet should appear.
- Add a Custom HTML block.
- Paste the copied iframe HTML into the block.
- Preview the page to check the embed, then publish or update the WordPress page.

Choose the right WordPress embedding method
WordPress has an Embed block for content from supported third-party providers, but its documentation does not establish that any Google Sheets URL will automatically become a working embed. If you paste a URL and it does not render, use the iframe HTML supplied by Google in a Custom HTML block instead. WordPress.org Embed block documentation

Check access, privacy, and what the page reveals
Publishing a spreadsheet can make it visible to everyone on the web, everyone in an organization, or a group in an organization, depending on account settings. Do not publish sensitive information unintentionally. Choose the intended sheet or range in Google’s publishing settings, and review the final embed so it displays only what you mean to share. Google says changes to the original document appear in the published version, but the update can take a few minutes. If you no longer want the published version available, return to the publishing dialog and stop publishing.

The Custom HTML block or iframe is unavailable
On WordPress.com, the Google Docs and Sheets embedding feature is listed for Personal, Premium, Business, and Commerce plans; free sites must upgrade to use it. Plan availability can change, so confirm current eligibility before changing plans. WordPress.com’s plan and embedding guidance
The iframe disappears after saving
On WordPress.org sites, WordPress may sanitize HTML for users without the required capability, removing disallowed elements such as <iframe>. If the code vanishes after saving, check the editor’s user role and site permissions with the site administrator. WordPress.org Custom HTML documentation
The sheet does not display as expected
Check the selection in Google’s publish dialog and the iframe Google generated. Confirm that the intended sheet or range is being published, then preview the WordPress page to verify the result. If you used the Embed block with only a URL, switch to the generated HTML route.
