Bria’s FIBO-Edit on Replicate edits an existing image from a text instruction, with an optional mask for changes in a selected region. For a first edit, upload an image, describe one clear change, and inspect the result. Replicate lists the service at $0.04 per output image; commercial use requires separate attention to Bria’s licensing terms.
What FIBO-Edit does
Replicate’s bria/fibo-edit model takes an image and an instruction to modify it. For example, Replicate’s listing shows the instruction “change lighting to starlight nighttime.” It is an image-editing model, not Bria’s separate bria/fibo text-to-image model.

Bria describes FIBO-Edit as supporting broad changes such as style, lighting, and atmosphere, as well as localized edits guided by a mask. These are documented capabilities, not a guarantee that every requested detail will be preserved or changed perfectly.
Make a first edit on Replicate
- Choose an image. Use a source image you have the right to edit, then upload it through the Replicate model page or provide it through Replicate’s API.
- Write one focused instruction. Describe the change you want, such as altering the lighting or atmosphere. A specific request is easier to assess than several unrelated changes bundled together.
- Decide whether to use a mask. Leave the mask unset for a whole-image edit. For a localized edit, supply a black-and-white mask: Bria documents white as the editable area and black as the area intended to be preserved.
- Run the edit and review the output. Replicate returns an image URI. Check both the edited region and surrounding details; the documentation describes intended behavior, not flawless results.
When to use a mask or structured instruction
Use a mask to target a region
A mask helps confine a change to a selected area. Bria describes the white region as editable and the black region as preserved; content in the selected region is generated as replacement content. If preserving surrounding details matters, inspect them after generation rather than assuming they are unchanged.

Use structured JSON for explicit control
Replicate’s input schema presents structured_instruction as a JSON-formatted string and an alternative to the plain-text instruction field. Bria’s workflow describes converting an instruction into structured JSON before rendering; supplying that structure directly is useful when you need a more explicit, programmatic edit or want to refine a prior structured instruction.
Inputs and interface-specific limits
Replicate’s model schema lists these inputs:
imageandmask: file inputs.instruction: text.structured_instruction: a JSON-formatted string.negative_prompt: text.seed: an integer.guidance_scale: an integer, with schema bounds of 3 to 5.
The output is an image URI. These are Replicate’s listed schema details; do not assume they are identical to the rules for Bria’s separate API.

For Bria’s direct /v2 image-editing API, the documentation supports one to four reference images for applicable requests. Multi-reference editing does not support masking; masked requests are single-image requests. Bria says its /v2 requests are asynchronous by default and return a request ID and status URL, and documents sync: true for simple, low-throughput requests. Those lifecycle details apply to Bria’s direct API, not necessarily to Replicate.

Reproducing or refining a result
Replicate’s schema includes a seed, and Bria says recreating a specific result depends on using the same source image, mask if applicable, structured instruction, and seed. Keep those inputs together when iterating. This does not establish universal determinism across changes to a model or hosted service.

Replicate price and commercial rights
Replicate displayed a price of $0.04 per output image on its model listing when checked on October 7, 2026. The platform price can change, and it is an inference price—not a project-wide cost estimate or commercial license.
Bria’s model card and README identify the model weights as non-commercial under CC BY-NC 4.0 and point to a separate commercial licensing path. Access to the Replicate endpoint alone should not be treated as permission for commercial use. Bria’s reviewed materials do not state the commercial license price or detailed terms, so obtain the applicable terms from Bria before using the model for business purposes.

Where the workflow fits
Replicate is a hosted way to run FIBO-Edit without setting up a local inference environment. Bria also documents a direct API and a local Diffusers path; those are different integration options with their own requirements and constraints. Choose based on whether you need a hosted model page, direct API integration, or local execution—and verify the rules for the specific interface you plan to use.
