If you used Local capture, do this before closing its tab or window: Awesome Screenshot says it cannot retrieve an undownloaded Local capture after that window closes.
Download a screenshot from Local or Cloud
Local capture
- Capture the page with Awesome Screenshot set to Local.
- When the capture appears, click Download beside it.
- Wait for the browser download to complete before closing the capture tab or window.
Local captures have a time-sensitive step: according to the Awesome Screenshot Help Center, an undownloaded capture cannot be retrieved after its window closes.

Cloud capture
Click Download beside the screenshot to save a local copy. If you do not download it right away, you can usually find cloud captures later under My Items after signing in, provided the item has not been moved (download instructions; My Items guidance).

Automatically download Local captures in Chrome or Edge
The Chrome and Edge extension can download Local captures automatically, avoiding a click after each capture. The option is off by default. Exact labels may vary by extension version.

- Open Awesome Screenshot’s Options.
- In the Local settings, turn on Auto-download screenshots.
- If the browser asks for permission to Manage your downloads, click Allow.
With Auto-download on, the post-capture controls for PDF, Copy, and Print are not shown. Turn Auto-download off in the Local settings if you need those controls; the Help Center says they then appear with Download (Auto-download instructions).
Save as PDF instead of an image
Cloud capture
Choose More beside the screenshot, then Download as PDF. The Help Center says this PDF is saved to the computer’s default Downloads folder.

Local capture
Click PDF beside the screenshot after capture. Auto-download must be off for this control to be visible. The Help Center says the default location is Downloads and that you can choose another folder. See its PDF download instructions.

For Local screenshots, the browser’s download location sets the base folder. Awesome Screenshot’s Options can specify a subfolder under Downloads. In Chrome, the extension subfolder is appended to the browser’s path: the Help Center’s example combines D:Test with Screenshots to make D:TestScreenshots (folder guidance; Chrome path example).

- Brand Yourself - Brand the flash drive with your company's name and provide company's overview, policies, etc. to the newly joined employees or your customers
- If the file is not where expected, check the browser’s download location first.
- Then check Awesome Screenshot’s subfolder setting.
- If both settings look right, the vendor suggests checking for an extension conflict by creating a new browser profile with only Awesome Screenshot installed (troubleshooting guidance).
If the downloaded image looks lower quality than the preview
Awesome Screenshot’s Help Center suggests copying and pasting the screenshot before clicking Done or Capture, or downloading as JPG or PDF rather than PNG. These are the vendor’s suggested workarounds, not independently tested fixes (quality guidance).
