WhatsApp identifies FMWhatsApp as an unofficial third-party app and does not support it. WhatsApp says it cannot validate unofficial apps’ security or privacy practices, so it does not provide a supported FMWhatsApp download. The safer supported option is to install WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business through WhatsApp’s official download route.
Why WhatsApp does not support FMWhatsApp
WhatsApp’s Help Center specifically names FM WhatsApp as an unofficial app. It says unofficial apps are modified by third parties, violate WhatsApp’s Terms of Service, and are unsupported because WhatsApp cannot validate their privacy or security practices. WhatsApp puts it plainly: “We don’t support these apps because we can’t validate their security or privacy practices.” WhatsApp Help Center: About unofficial apps

WhatsApp warns that unofficial apps may contain malware that steals data or damages a device. That is a warning about the risk of the category; it does not establish that every FMWhatsApp release has been tested or is malicious. A 2026 University of Washington Tech Policy Lab study found two studied modified WhatsApp apps were clearly malicious, but that finding describes the study’s sample—not all modified apps or FMWhatsApp specifically.
