To download apps on an Element TV, first identify whether it runs Roku TV, Fire TV, Android TV, or Google TV. The installation steps—and whether you can install apps at all—depend on the TV’s platform and model, not just the Element name.
Find your Element TV’s platform
Check the TV’s Home screen and Settings for its platform, then confirm the model number on the TV label or in its settings. Element’s support pages cover Roku TV, Fire TV, and Android TV, while its help center lists several platform families, including Google TV. Menus and supported features can differ between models, so use directions that match your TV.

If you are setting up a new TV, complete its initial setup and connect it to the internet before trying to install apps. For Roku, Element says Roku features become available after activation. Element support provides model-specific help.
Install apps on Roku TV
- Connect the TV to Wi-Fi and complete Roku activation if you have not already done so.
- Open the Roku menu and select Streaming Channels.
- Browse or search for a channel, open its listing, and choose the option to add it.
Element’s setup guide notes that Roku features are available after activation. If the store or a channel is unavailable, confirm that the TV is online and activation is complete. Element’s Roku setup guidance covers the activation process.

Install apps on Amazon Fire TV
- From the Home screen, open Apps.
- Browse or search the Amazon app catalog, select the app, and follow the on-screen installation prompts.
Element’s general instruction is to open Apps from Home. Menu labels can change with software updates; if yours differs, follow the current on-screen navigation to the app catalog. Element support can help you locate model-specific instructions.
Install apps on Android TV or Google TV
Android TV
- Open the Google Play Store on the TV.
- Find the app you want and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
This is Element’s published route for Android TV. The available apps depend on the TV’s platform and region.

Google TV
During setup, choose Google TV rather than Basic TV if you want to install apps. Google TV setup requires a Google Account and provides access to app installation; Basic TV setup does not. Element’s quick-start guide says you can switch to Google TV later in Settings. Follow the prompts on your screen, since menu names may vary by model or software version. App or channel availability can vary by country or region, and some services require a subscription or other payment. Installing an app does not necessarily provide access to its paid content.

When an Element TV cannot install more apps
Some Element televisions have no built-in app platform, while certain older smart models have only a limited selection of built-in apps. For the models listed below, Element directs owners to connect an external streaming device to an HDMI port to add apps.
Standard TV models
Element’s guidance names these standard-TV models: ELEFW328, ELEFJ322, ELFW195, ELEFW195, ELEFJ191, ELEFT2416, ELEFJ243, E1AA19N, E1AA24N, E1AA32N, E2T4019, E4AA43N, and E4AA50N. For these models, Element suggests a Roku Stick, Fire Stick, or Google Chromecast connected to HDMI. See Element’s standard-TV instructions.

Older smart TV models
Element says these models have a few built-in apps and recommends an HDMI-connected streaming device for additional apps: ELSFT5517, E4SW5518, ELST3216H, ELST4017, ELST4316S, ELST5016S, E2SW5018, E4SFT5517H, and E4SJ6519. Element names a Roku Stick, Fire Stick, or Google Chromecast as options. These instructions apply to the listed model families; they do not establish that every Element smart TV needs an external device. See Element’s older-smart-TV instructions.
Before choosing a streaming device, check that the TV has an available HDMI port and that the device supports the apps and services you need. Consider its platform, setup requirements, and remote-control preferences; there is no universally best choice for every TV or viewer.

Troubleshoot common app-installation problems
- No Apps or store menu: Check the exact model and platform. The TV may be a standard model or an older smart model with a limited built-in selection; use the model-specific guidance above rather than assuming all Element TVs share the same app store.
- Google TV will not install apps: Check whether setup was completed as Google TV rather than Basic TV and whether a Google Account is in use. Element says Basic TV setup does not include app installation.
- Roku channels are unavailable: Confirm the TV is connected to Wi-Fi and Roku activation is complete.
- The app is missing from the store: App availability varies by platform and, for Google TV channels, by country or region. Check the TV’s own store for availability rather than assuming an app is supported.
Element’s central app-installation article dates to October 30, 2020, and its model-specific guidance to July 20, 2020. Because interfaces and app catalogs can change, confirm your model and follow the current on-screen menus when they differ from older instructions.
