To download a Minecraft Realm world, use the steps for your edition: Bedrock downloads it from the Realm’s World and Slots menus, while Java downloads it from World Backups. The game saves a local copy in your worlds list. This is different from restoring a backup, which changes the Realm’s active world.
Download a Realm world in Bedrock Edition
- Launch Minecraft and select Play, then Realms.
- Open the Realm’s Realms Hub, then select World and Slots.
- Find the world you want to keep. Open the three-dot menu beside Edit world and choose Download World.
The downloaded copy is added to All Worlds. Minecraft Help also notes that it can be copied from file storage, though it does not give one universal local file path for every device. See Minecraft Help’s Bedrock download instructions and consult the file-location guidance for your specific platform if you need to move the file manually.

- Launch Minecraft and select Minecraft Realms.
- Select your Realm, then choose Configure and World Backups.
- Choose Download Latest, then select Continue.
The downloaded world is added to your single-player worlds. For the official menu sequence, see Minecraft Help’s Java download instructions.
Move a Bedrock world to another device
Minecraft Help documents Realms as a way to transfer Bedrock worlds between devices. This is a separate workflow from simply downloading a local copy on the device you are already using.

- Make sure Minecraft is updated on both the source and destination devices.
- Verify that you have an active Realms trial or paid subscription.
- Upload the world from the source device to a Realm slot.
- On the destination device, open the Realm and download the world. The copy appears on that device’s Worlds tab.
See Minecraft Help’s instructions for transferring a world using a Realm. This procedure relies on an active trial or subscription; it is not a direct file transfer.

Downloading leaves the Realm’s active world in place and adds a local copy to your device. Restoring a save instead replaces the Realm’s current state with the selected earlier save. Builds or items added after that save may no longer be present in the restored Realm.

Restore a Java Realm backup
In Minecraft Realms, select the Realm, then open Configure → World Backups. Choose Restore beside the version you want to make active. The Java help page documents both the download and restore options: Minecraft Help: Download a Realms World.
Restore a Bedrock Realm save
Go to Play → Realms → the Realm’s Realms Hub → World. Open the Manual or Automatic saves tab, open the menu for the save you want, and select Restore save. For details, see Minecraft Help’s Bedrock restore instructions.

If you cannot find the downloaded world
- Check the right world list: Bedrock copies appear in All Worlds; Java copies appear in single-player worlds.
- Confirm the edition’s menu: Bedrock uses the Realm Hub and Slots; Java uses Configure and World Backups.
- For a device transfer, check prerequisites: Minecraft Help requires an active trial or paid subscription and current versions on both devices for its Realms-based Bedrock transfer workflow.
- If you need a file, not just an in-game copy: use the platform-specific file-location instructions. Minecraft Help’s download directions do not establish a single path for all devices.
