To stop a Samsung phone from capitalizing the first letter of each sentence, turn off Auto capitalize in Samsung Keyboard settings: Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > More typing options, then switch off Auto capitalize. Samsung says this option controls sentence-start capitalization. Samsung’s current US instructions use this path.

If you can’t find the setting
First check which keyboard is active. The instructions above are for Samsung Keyboard; if you use another keyboard app, its settings and labels may differ. Samsung recommends searching your phone’s Settings for Samsung Keyboard if the menus do not match its current path. Older software may use a different route, such as Settings > Language and input > On-screen keyboard > Samsung Keyboard. Available options vary by device and software version. Samsung’s support page includes alternate legacy routes.

What Auto capitalize changes—and what it does not
Auto capitalize controls the first letter of each sentence. It is separate from the other Samsung Keyboard typing features, so you can leave them on if you only want to stop automatic sentence capitalization.

Samsung’s UK keyboard guide also calls the option Auto capitalise in regional English. The spelling may differ, but it refers to the same sentence-capitalization control.

Confirm that Samsung Keyboard is active and that Auto capitalize is switched off. If the issue is the opposite—sentences are not being capitalized when you expect them to be—Samsung Members community guidance suggests checking that a space follows the full stop.
