If you mean you want to turn off the Quick Share button itself, switch off its tile in the expanded Quick settings panel instead; that is a separate control.
Stop other devices from discovering your Galaxy phone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connected devices, then Quick Share. If you do not see those labels, search Settings for Quick Share.
- Tap Who can share with you and select No one.
Samsung’s current U.S. instructions identify this as the receiving-visibility setting: choosing No one prevents other nearby devices from discovering your phone for incoming Quick Share. It does not uninstall Quick Share or turn off every sharing feature. Samsung’s U.S. Quick Share guide notes that menus and available options can vary by device, carrier, and software version.

Turn off the Quick Share tile
If you want to switch off the Quick Share control in Quick settings, open the expanded panel and tap the Quick Share tile if it appears. Samsung Community guidance describes the tile as an on/off control, but its presence and panel layout depend on the phone and software version. If you cannot find it, search Settings for Quick Share. Samsung Community guidance is dated January 20, 2023, so treat its panel instructions as version-dependent.

Opening Quick settings varies by One UI version
Samsung Canada says devices running One UI 7.0 and newer access Notifications and Quick settings separately, while devices running One UI 6.1.1 or lower use the same swipe gesture for both. The exact panel behavior and arrangement can differ. See Samsung Canada’s Quick settings panel guide, last updated January 10, 2026.

Which setting should you change?

Check the visibility setting if it changes
After setting visibility to No one, reopen Who can share with you to confirm the selected option. Samsung’s U.S. troubleshooting page warns that nearby-sharing visibility may change temporarily when Quick Share is accessed, so check the displayed choice if the phone becomes discoverable again. Samsung’s support pages do not use identical labels: one lists No one, Your devices, Contacts, and Everyone (Only for 10 minutes), while the troubleshooting page lists No one, Contacts only, and Everyone. Use the options shown on your own phone and choose No one for this privacy goal. Samsung’s Quick Share troubleshooting guide explains the temporary-setting caveat.
If Quick Share keeps appearing
A Quick Share prompt and your phone’s discoverability are not the same issue. If you are trying to prevent other devices from finding your Galaxy, set receiving visibility to No one. If you want to disable the panel shortcut, turn off the Quick Share tile when available. Where a menu or tile is missing, use Settings search for Quick Share; Samsung’s steps and feature availability vary by model, carrier, region, and software version.

Sharing sensitive information
Samsung advises care when sharing sensitive information through Quick Share and recommends Private Share if you are concerned about sharing. That caution does not mean Quick Share is inherently unsafe.
