You can remove the Intel Killer Performance Suite through Windows Apps & features and restart, or choose a less disruptive option: turn off its traffic prioritization or disable Killer Network Service to use the driver-only setup Intel documents. These steps change software features, not the physical network adapter. If you are troubleshooting a problem, start with the smallest change that addresses it.
What Killer Network Service does
Killer Network Service is part of software for compatible Killer network hardware. Intel’s May 2025 Intel Killer Performance Suite user guide describes the suite as software for viewing and controlling network traffic. Its features can prioritize selected applications and provide network-health information. Intel says the prioritization technology can slow background downloads on limited-speed connections to streamline data moving to a browser; that is Intel’s description, not an independent performance measurement.

The service and suite are software components, distinct from the network adapter itself. Removing the suite does not, according to Intel’s cited instructions, remove the physical Wi-Fi or Ethernet hardware.

Choose the right option
| Action | What changes | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Turn off Killer Prioritization Engine | Stops traffic prioritization while leaving the suite available. | You want to test whether prioritization is contributing to a connection problem. |
| Disable Killer Network Service | Prevents the service from starting; Intel describes this as a driver-only setup. | You want to stop the service without uninstalling the suite. |
| Uninstall Killer Performance Suite | Removes the suite’s user-facing prioritization and network-health features. | You want the suite gone. |
| Clean-install the suite | Removes and reinstalls the software rather than leaving an older or problematic installation in place. | You suspect a software issue and still want the suite’s features. |
Turn off prioritization first
If your goal is simply to stop traffic management, Intel recommends disabling the Killer Prioritization Engine before uninstalling updates or switching to driver-only operation. The setting may appear in Killer Control Center or Killer Intelligence Center, depending on the installed package.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open Killer Control Center or Killer Intelligence Center.
- Open its settings and turn off Killer Prioritization Engine. Older versions may call this feature Advanced Stream Detect.
- Restart if prompted, then test the connection or application that was having trouble.
For Riot games specifically, Riot Games Support’s July 17, 2026 guidance lists disabling Killer traffic prioritization as a possible connection-troubleshooting step. It is an option to test, not evidence that Killer software causes every connection problem.
Disable the service for a driver-only setup
Intel documents disabling the service as a way to prevent it from starting and use a driver-only setup. Windows and package versions can differ, so the names or available controls may not match exactly on every computer.

Troubleshoot high CPU use or an older installation
Intel says some users have reported high CPU usage with older versions of Killer Control Center on newer Windows 10 versions. Its troubleshooting advice is specific to that context; it does not establish how common the problem is or quantify CPU savings from disabling the service.
If you suspect an installation problem but want to keep the suite, Intel’s high-CPU troubleshooting guidance, last reviewed February 11, 2025, includes stopping Killer Network Service or Rivet Bandwidth Control and clean-installing the latest suite. Its clean-install guidance recommends getting the appropriate installer, uninstalling the suite, restarting, clearing temporary installer files, and reinstalling. Use the installer intended for your computer and adapter.

What to check after changing it
- Confirm that Wi-Fi or Ethernet reconnects after the restart.
- If connectivity fails or a problem began after an update, check the computer manufacturer’s support guidance for the correct network driver before changing or removing drivers.
- Keep the computer model and network adapter details handy when seeking OEM support; driver and update behavior can vary by system.
Intel describes its suite as having a “small resource footprint,” but that is a vendor characterization, not an independent benchmark. The cited sources do not establish a universal speed increase, guaranteed CPU savings, or that Killer Network Service is malware.
