What is Tencent EdgeOne Makers?
Tencent describes EdgeOne Makers as a “Web and Agent development and deployment platform built on the Tencent EdgeOne infrastructure.” In practice, Makers brings project setup and deployment together with EdgeOne’s delivery network. Tencent’s Makers product introduction describes its development and deployment scope, while its quick start walks through creating and deploying projects.

It is not a universal speed switch or a substitute for every security measure. Makers handles development and deployment workflows; acceleration and protection features are part of the underlying EdgeOne service and depend on the relevant configuration and plan. Check which features apply to your account before relying on them.

How do I get started with EdgeOne Makers?
Choose the project-creation route that fits your code and how you want to update it. Tencent’s English quick-start guide, last updated June 17, 2026, documents Git import, templates, and file upload.

- Choose a creation method. Connect a Git repository for a commit-based workflow, start from a template for a starter project, or upload prepared project files.
- Connect or provide the project. For Git, authorize Makers to access the repository and select the project. For a template or upload, follow the relevant project setup flow.
- Review the build configuration. Confirm the build settings match your framework and project. The quick start describes the workflow, but consult the current console and documentation for exact labels and project-specific settings.
- Deploy and inspect the preview. Check that pages and application behavior work as expected before connecting a production domain.
- Configure a custom domain and DNS. Tencent’s domain instructions direct users to configure the domain through the console and update DNS through their domain provider. The FAQ says an SSL certificate is offered automatically after successful domain configuration; check the current instructions for the steps that apply to your setup.
Should I connect Git or upload my files?

The choice is consequential: if ongoing commit-triggered deployments matter, use Git integration from the start.
What can I deploy with Makers?
Tencent lists static websites, single-page applications, full-stack applications, and agent applications as supported project categories. Its materials name frameworks including Astro, React, Vue, Next.js, and Nuxt, and its documentation describes dynamic APIs and serverless functions. These are vendor-documented capabilities, not a guarantee that every version or project will deploy without changes. Verify current framework support and runtime constraints before migrating.

Static websites and single-page apps
A template or Git-based deployment may be enough for a simple static site. For a single-page app, verify that the build output and routing behavior work in the deployed preview.

Check runtime requirements, function limits, environment variables, build configuration, and dependencies on external services. A supported framework name alone does not establish compatibility with every application architecture.

Makers documents agent projects and agent execution quotas. Confirm the relevant limits and runtime requirements for your expected usage before deploying an agent for production workloads.
How can Makers affect website performance?
Tencent says Makers uses EdgeOne’s global edge network for acceleration and intelligent caching of static resources and dynamic content. Its product materials advertise “3,200+ nodes,” “400 Tbps,” and latency “<50 milliseconds.” These are Tencent-published figures; the product page does not provide enough methodology or geographic qualification to treat them as a guaranteed result for an individual site. Actual results depend on your site, content, cache behavior, visitors’ locations, and configuration. The available product information does not establish an independent speed comparison with other hosting platforms or a measured improvement for your site. Treat edge delivery as a capability to configure and evaluate, not a performance outcome to assume.
What security protection does Makers provide?
Tencent says Makers reuses the underlying EdgeOne security protection engine. The free-edition quotas and limits page describes limited custom rules and precise rate-limiting rules for the free edition. It says DDoS scrubbing is automated by default but does not guarantee minimum protection resource capacity. It also describes basic bot-management behavior and states that traffic-fraud prevention applies only to mainland China.

These are platform protection features, not a promise that every attack or vulnerability will be prevented. Deployment and edge protection do not by themselves establish that application code is secure, credentials are strong, dependencies are safe, or the origin is protected. The broader EdgeOne product page describes DNS, acceleration, and DDoS, CC, web, and bot protection services. Match the protections you need to the applicable plan and configuration.
What are the free-edition limits?
Tencent’s Makers free-edition limits page, accessed in 2026, lists the following quotas. Tencent warns that quotas may change after commercialization and are enforced more leniently before the commercial edition officially launches.

The quotas and limits page is the source for these figures; check it and the console for current limits before planning production use. Tencent’s FAQ describes a time-limited free phase and includes website security acceleration and platform-level protection among the free edition’s offerings. Those Makers statements should not be conflated with all EdgeOne service plans or pricing: Tencent presents separate subscription plans on its EdgeOne service page.
How should you decide whether Makers fits?
- Project type: Determine whether your site is static, a single-page app, full-stack, or an agent, then verify the runtime and features it needs.
- Update workflow: Use Git integration if you want deployments triggered by commits; direct upload does not later convert to that workflow.
- Expected usage: Compare builds, function and agent executions, storage, and domain needs with the current quotas.
- Audience geography: Consider where visitors are located and whether the available edge delivery and protections match your needs.
- Security requirements: Confirm the relevant EdgeOne plan and configuration rather than assuming every protection is included or enabled.
The official sources establish platform capabilities and vendor claims, but not independent performance measurements or a head-to-head security comparison. For a production decision, verify current framework support, quotas, plan coverage, and console settings against your application’s requirements.
