Yes, Radeon drivers have real, officially documented bugs. AMD’s Windows release notes name game-specific crashes, driver timeouts, stutter and visual corruption across several Adrenalin versions. But those lists do not show how often users encounter the problems, and they cannot establish that AMD drivers are less reliable than a competitor’s. The evidence supports a qualified answer: particular Radeon releases have had particular issues, not that AMD GPUs generally have “bad drivers.”
What AMD’s Windows driver notes actually document
AMD’s Adrenalin release notes record known issues for particular games, features, hardware and driver versions. The examples below show that the problems are not imaginary, but each is scoped to the circumstances AMD names.

Adrenalin 26.5.2
AMD’s 26.5.2 release notes, checked October 7, 2026, list intermittent crashes or driver timeouts in Battlefield 6 on Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, and texture flicker or corruption in that game when AMD Record and Stream is enabled on some graphics products. They also mention potentially inactive FSR indicators on RX 9000 cards, plus intermittent crashes in Blender on RX 7000 and newer, Subnautica 2 and Marvel Rivals on RX 9000. For the Blender and latter game crashes, AMD advises installing Adrenalin 26.3.1. That is a version-specific mitigation, not a guarantee that the earlier driver fixes every crash.

The 25.9.1 notes, also checked October 7, 2026, identify intermittent crashes in The Last of Us Part II on RX 7900, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on RX 9000 and NBA 2K25 MyCareer on RX 9070. AMD also lists VR stutter on some RX 7000 systems and a Cyberpunk 2077 crash or driver timeout while loading a saved game with path tracing enabled.

- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
Adrenalin 25.6.1
In the 25.6.1 notes, AMD lists stutter or low performance when alt-tabbing or streaming through Discord with multiple monitors; a Spider-Man 2 crash or timeout with ray tracing on RX 9060 XT; and a first-launch crash in The Last of Us Part I on RX 9060 XT. The notes also describe VR stutter at certain refresh rates, Cyberpunk 2077 crashes on some RX 7000 products, and other named game or Chromium video stutter cases.
Adrenalin 24.12.1
AMD’s 24.12.1 notes document intermittent driver timeouts or crashes in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 on some AMD graphics products, including Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. AMD suggested enabling Variable Graphics Memory as a temporary measure.

Why known-issue lists cannot answer “Are AMD drivers worse?”
Release notes are disclosures of issues known to a vendor at a particular release point; they are not reliability studies. AMD does not provide the number of affected users for these entries, and the notes cannot establish whether an individual user’s failure was caused by the GPU driver. Nor do they supply a matched comparison with another vendor.

Counting bullets would not solve that problem. A fair comparison would need equivalent GPU generations, games and workloads, operating systems and time periods, along with crash rates per tested system-hour, severity, time to fix and support duration. Vendors may also differ in what they publish and how they group issues. The cited material provides no such matched dataset, so it cannot support a statistical verdict that Radeon drivers are worse than GeForce drivers.

Keep Windows Radeon gaming drivers separate from Linux compute drivers
These Windows Adrenalin examples concern Radeon graphics and specific gaming, application or feature workloads. They should not be merged with AMD’s Linux amdgpu 31.50.0 release into a single verdict about all AMD drivers.
AMD’s amdgpu 31.50.0 notes describe a separate release line based on Linux 7.x after a prior 6.19-based line. AMD says it is aimed at customers using the latest AMD Instinct compute platforms on supported Linux distributions, and lists stability and memory-safety fixes intended to reduce hangs, crashes and resource leaks. That is useful evidence about this Linux compute driver line, not a broad test of Radeon gaming reliability on Linux.

What to do if a Radeon driver is causing trouble
- Match the symptom to the release notes. Check AMD’s notes for your driver version, GPU and affected game or application. A listed issue makes the symptom plausible in that configuration; it does not prove that it is the cause on your system.
- Use a workaround only when it fits. For example, the 26.5.2 notes point to 26.3.1 for specified Blender and game crashes. Follow a recommendation for the named issue rather than treating a rollback as a universal fix.
- Consider the system maker’s package on a laptop or all-in-one. AMD recommends OEM-provided drivers for processors with Radeon graphics in these systems because manufacturers customize and validate drivers for system-specific features. If AMD’s general package causes trouble, AMD advises installing the OEM package.
For a separate Windows 10 support question, AMD’s position was reported by Tom’s Hardware on November 1, 2025: an AMD spokesperson said that Windows 10 support would continue through AMD Software Adrenalin Edition via the Windows 11 installer, even when a release did not specifically list Windows 10. This statement is attributed to the spokesperson as quoted in Tom’s Hardware’s report; it is not a claim that every release note lists Windows 10.
