If the option is missing or unavailable, the app may be recommended or built in; you may still be able to remove its shortcut from the Home screen. The exact options depend on your TV model, year, region, and software.
Delete the app if your TV offers that option
- Press Home on the remote.
- Open Apps, then App Settings. The label or location may differ on some models.
- Select the app you want to remove.
- Choose Delete and confirm if prompted. Samsung’s instructions describe this route in its US app-management guide.
Deleting an app may also erase its associated data, according to Samsung India’s app instructions. Keep the app’s sign-in details handy if you might install it again.

Delete, remove from Home, or reset Smart Hub?

If Delete is missing or grayed out
Samsung says recommended apps cannot be deleted, though they can be removed from the Home screen. Samsung India says pre-installed default apps cannot be uninstalled, and Samsung UK cautions that some preloaded apps cannot be removed. Those limits can vary by model and region; Samsung’s UK app guidance also notes that some apps cannot be removed.
To remove a shortcut, focus the app on the Home screen, press and hold Select, choose Remove, and confirm if prompted. This hides the shortcut rather than uninstalling the app.

If the app is malfunctioning rather than simply unwanted, Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide recommends trying Reinstall when Delete is grayed out for a recommended app. Reinstalling is a troubleshooting step, not a way to remove it. Samsung also includes cold booting and checking for a TV software update in its troubleshooting sequence.
Use a Smart Hub reset only for broader troubleshooting
A Smart Hub reset is not a selective uninstall, and Samsung does not say it will make a locked preloaded app deletable. It resets Smart Hub settings and affects app downloads and account sign-ins; you may need to set up services and download apps again. Collect your account credentials first.

- 2018 and earlier: Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Reset Smart Hub.
- 2019 and later: Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > Reset Smart Hub.
Your TV may ask for its PIN. Samsung lists 0000 as the default unless it has been changed. For a different menu or model year, identify the TV’s model number and consult its manual or Samsung’s model-specific support; Samsung warns that instructions vary by model.

Consider another streaming interface if you want different apps
A streaming device connected over HDMI can provide a separate app interface without changing the TV’s built-in apps. Samsung names Roku, Amazon Fire TV Stick, and Google Chromecast as examples in its US support guidance. Check that your TV has an available HDMI port and that the device supports the services you want. This is optional and does not uninstall or disable preloaded Samsung TV apps.
