How to delete one contact on a Samsung phone
- Open the Contacts app.
- Tap the contact you want to remove.
- Tap More or the three-dot menu, then choose Delete.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
This is the route in Samsung UK’s contact-management instructions. Samsung notes that screens may look different depending on the device and operating system, although the steps should be similar. The dedicated Contacts app is the clearest place to start; some Galaxy phones also let you reach contacts through the Phone app.

How to delete multiple contacts at once
- Open Contacts.
- Open the selection or edit controls in the contact list. Depending on the phone, this may be under the three-dot menu.
- Select each contact you want to remove.
- Tap Delete and confirm.
The precise menu path is not universal. The Galaxy Z Fold6 manual shows ⋮ → Edit for selecting contacts, while the Galaxy S9+ manual shows ⋮ → Delete. Use the closest selection or edit option available on your device, then check that only the intended entries are marked before confirming.
Check where the contact is stored before deleting
A Galaxy contact list can combine entries from different sources, including phone storage and Google accounts. If you have more than one account, confirm that you are viewing the right contact and understand which account or storage location owns it. Google contacts can synchronize to the phone and appear in the Contacts app when sync is enabled.

Samsung advises backing up contacts through a browser before syncing with Google, because sync errors can result in deleted contacts. Its Galaxy-to-Google contact sync guide explains the sync process. For a contact stored in a Google account, you can also check or manage it in Google Contacts.
Why a deleted contact may reappear
If an entry returns, it may still exist in another place that supplies contacts to the phone. Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the contact’s storage location, the SIM, and apps or messaging services that may hold the entry. These are possible sources to investigate, not guaranteed causes on every Galaxy model.

Start by checking which account or storage location is displayed for the contact. If it belongs to a synced Google account, review that account’s contacts as well as the phone’s list. Samsung’s contact deletion troubleshooting page covers these checks.
Can you recover a contact after deleting it?
Possibly. Recovery depends on where the contact was stored and which software and regional features are available. Samsung Gulf describes restoring missing contacts through Google Contacts or the Samsung Contacts Recycle Bin in its guidance for erased contacts.

Samsung Russia says contacts deleted on Android 15 and Android 16 are kept in the Recycle Bin for 30 days; that period is specific to Samsung’s Russia guidance for those Android versions, not a guarantee for every Galaxy phone or account. The same guidance says SIM-stored contacts cannot be recovered through that Recycle Bin path. See Samsung Russia’s contact recovery instructions for those details.
