Delete a bookmark from Bookmark Manager

Delete a bookmark from the bookmarks panel
- In Chrome, select More > Bookmarks and lists > Show all bookmarks.
- Hover over the bookmark or folder you want to remove.
- Select its More menu, then choose Delete.
Both routes use Chrome’s built-in Delete action. The manager gives you a full list to browse; the panel can be more convenient when you already see the item there.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Google’s Chrome Help states: “After you delete a bookmark, you can’t get it back.” If you may want the saved site later, note its address or export your bookmarks before deleting it.

If Chrome is signed in to the same Google Account on other devices and sync is on, bookmark changes sync across those devices. Google says changes sync right away in that situation. A work or school administrator may disable sync, so behavior on a managed Chromebook can differ. See Sync your account settings and Get your bookmarks, passwords, and more on all your devices.
If the bookmark is managed by your school or employer
Some bookmarks on managed Chrome devices are set by an organization. Administrators control these through Chrome Enterprise settings. Google notes that deleting a managed folder also deletes the bookmarks inside it, and those items cannot be recovered. If you do not have Admin console access or cannot remove the item, ask your organization’s administrator. See Manage bookmarks.

What will not remove bookmarks
- Clearing browsing data: Chrome’s browsing-data categories cover items such as history, cookies and site data, cache, downloads, autofill, site settings, and hosted app data; bookmarks are not listed. Use bookmark controls to remove a saved site. See Delete browsing data in Chrome.
- Resetting Chrome settings: Google says a reset does not delete or change saved bookmarks and passwords. See Reset Chrome settings to default.
If you have a large number of bookmarks
Google’s Chrome Help says an account can store up to 100,000 bookmarks for access across devices; the page does not state when that limit was published. Google suggests deleting unused bookmarks or exporting them if you reach the limit. Because deletion is not recoverable, export first if you are unsure which saved sites you will need.
