How to uninstall an app on a Fire TV Stick
- From the Fire TV menu, open Settings.
- Select Applications.
- Select Manage Installed Applications.
- Choose the app you want to remove, then select Uninstall.
- Follow any on-screen instructions to finish.
This is the uninstall route in Amazon’s Fire TV app-removal instructions. Amazon notes that the Fire TV experience can differ across devices, so if a label or location is slightly different, look within Settings and Applications.

What if you can’t find Manage Installed Applications?
Start at Settings and look for Applications. Amazon describes that area as the place to manage Appstore and installed-app settings, though its placement can differ between device experiences. See Amazon’s overview of Fire TV settings if you need help locating the Applications area.

Uninstall removes the app
Choose Uninstall when you want the app removed from the device. The reviewed Amazon instructions do not promise that an uninstall preserves the app’s sign-in information or preferences.

Clear Cache or Clear Data keeps the app installed
If an app is malfunctioning or you are troubleshooting a storage warning, select it under Manage Installed Applications and choose Clear Cache or Clear Data. Clearing cache removes cached files; clearing data removes the app’s stored data and settings, but does not uninstall the app. Check the prompt before confirming. Amazon says its cache optimization can run in the background when an app has been unused for more than 30 days and the device is low on storage; it cannot be deactivated. Auto Offload temporarily removes an unused app
Amazon’s Auto Offload feature may offload apps after 60 days of non-use when storage is low, while retaining login information and settings so the app can be downloaded again. It is distinct from manually uninstalling an app. Amazon says Auto Offload is on by default, requires an internet connection, and can be toggled under Applications > Auto Offload. It is unavailable on Fire TV devices with Kids profiles, Amazon Fire TV generations 1 and 2, Fire TV Stick generations 1 and 2, and Fire TV Stick Basic Edition. See Amazon’s Auto Offload information.

Moving an app does not delete it
Moving or reordering an app on the Fire TV home screen only changes its position; it remains installed. To remove it, use the uninstall steps above. Amazon documents home-screen organization separately in its Fire TV menu customization instructions.

Removing a sideloaded app
For most users, the on-device uninstall steps are sufficient, including for apps installed outside the Amazon Appstore if they appear in the installed-app list. Amazon’s developer documentation also describes removing a sideloaded app with Android Debug Bridge (ADB): adb uninstall <package>. This is an advanced command-line method; the package name must be the app’s package identifier, not necessarily its display name.
