These are different products with different deletion controls.
Start by identifying the Amazon product
“Amazon recordings” can refer to two separate systems. Bee is an AI wearable with a Voice Notes feature. Alexa is Amazon’s voice assistant, including the assistant built into Echo speakers and other devices. The deletion process, the type of data retained and the available retention choices differ between them.

What Amazon Bee stores and what you can delete
Bee is described as processing audio without keeping the audio file
Amazon describes Bee as an AI wearable that processes conversations in real time without storing audio. That wording matters: it does not support the idea that Bee maintains a permanent library of raw voice recordings that you can browse and erase later. Treat “recordings” as shorthand only when discussing Bee; the documented deletable items are the data derived from conversations.
Amazon says customers can delete personal data, including transcripts and summaries, at any time. A transcript is the text representation of spoken words. A summary is a condensed result generated from a conversation or Voice Note. Deleting those records addresses the information Amazon identifies as retained personal data, rather than implying that an original audio file is archived.

Why the exact Bee menu may look different
Amazon’s public description does not provide one universal, versioned, button-by-button Bee path. Labels can therefore vary by app release, account type or region. Do not assume that an Alexa menu appears in Bee, and do not keep searching for an option named “recordings” if the app instead uses “transcripts,” “summaries,” “Voice Notes,” “personal data” or “privacy.”
How to delete Bee transcripts and summaries
Use the controls currently displayed in your Bee app or Amazon account. The following procedure follows Amazon’s stated deletion capability without inventing a menu path that Amazon has not documented universally.
- Open the Bee companion app or the Amazon account area connected to Bee. Sign in to the account that owns the wearable; a different Amazon account will not show the same data.
- Open Privacy, Data, Personal data or a similarly named control. Look for a section covering Voice Notes, conversation history, transcripts or summaries. The wording can differ from one version to another.
- Review the records before deleting them. Identify the transcript or summary you want removed. If the interface groups data by conversation or date, verify the selection so that you do not erase a note you still need.
- Choose Delete, Remove or the equivalent action. Confirm the request when the app asks. Amazon says customers may delete personal data, including transcripts and summaries, at any time.
- Check the list again after the request completes. Refresh the page or reopen the privacy area. If an item remains visible, read any status message: the request may be processing, or the item may be stored in another category.
- Repeat for other categories. A transcript and its summary may appear as separate entries. Delete each one if your privacy goal is to remove both forms of derived text.
Because no single Bee path is published for all versions, contact Amazon support through the app or account help area if you cannot find a deletion control. Describe the data precisely—Bee transcript, Voice Note summary or other personal data—rather than asking to delete “recordings,” which may lead support to an Alexa workflow.
How to delete Alexa or Echo voice history
If your device is Alexa-enabled, Amazon documents a specific path for reviewing and deleting history. This is the correct route for an Echo speaker, an Alexa-enabled display or another product using your Alexa account.
- Open the Alexa app.
- Select More.
- Select Alexa Privacy.
- Open Review Alexa History.
- Select an individual history entry, or choose the available history range, and delete the voice recordings, transcripts or typed requests you want removed.
The Alexa Privacy Settings website offers the same account-level controls. Use whichever interface you can access, but make sure it is signed in to the Amazon account associated with the device that captured the interaction.
Delete a recent request with your voice
Alexa’s voice-deletion commands work only after you enable the feature. In the Alexa app, go to More > Alexa Privacy > Manage Your Alexa Data > Voice and Typed Requests, then turn on the setting that allows deletion by voice. Amazon documents these commands:

- “Delete what I just said.”
- “Delete everything I said today.”
- “Delete my entire voice history.”
Use the command that matches the scope you intend. A request to delete your entire history is broader than removing the last interaction, and the app’s history view remains the place to verify what was selected.

Stop Alexa from keeping future recordings
Choose an automatic-deletion period
Alexa’s privacy controls let you choose automatic deletion after 3 months or 18 months. These are retention choices for Alexa voice recordings; they are not Bee settings. Select the shortest period that fits your need for history and personalization, then confirm the choice in the Alexa privacy controls.
Choose not to save voice recordings
Alexa also offers a “don’t save recordings” choice. Amazon says recordings are deleted after processing under this option. Transcripts and typed requests may still remain for 30 days after the last interaction in a chat unless you delete them sooner, so “don’t save recordings” is not the same as deleting every piece of text immediately.
Amazon ended the separate “Do Not Send Voice Recordings” option on March 28, 2025. The documented control that remains is retention, including the choice not to save recordings. If an older help article tells you to look for the discontinued option, use the current retention settings instead.
Understand the personalization trade-off
Choosing not to save recordings deletes Voice ID. Amazon warns that Voice ID or other personalized features can stop working or become less effective. You may gain a smaller stored voice history but lose recognition-based personalization. Decide which outcome matters more before changing the setting for a household account.

Data Amazon says can be removed
For Alexa, deletion requests can remove the specified voice recordings, transcripts and typed requests from Amazon’s cloud. You can target one entry, a date range or the available full-history option in Alexa Privacy. For Bee, Amazon’s description specifically identifies personal data such as transcripts and summaries as deletable.

Other records may remain
Deleting voice history does not necessarily remove every record created during an interaction. Amazon says other interaction records may remain, including:
- Attachments associated with an interaction.
- Action records created when Alexa performed a task.
- Product-search records.
- Reminders, lists and messages.
- Information retained by third-party skill developers.
If a skill or service received information, deleting the Alexa history entry does not automatically prove that the third party deleted its own copy. Review that service’s privacy controls separately when the interaction involved a skill, shopping activity, messaging or an attachment.
Deletion can take time
Amazon cautions that deletion processing is not always instantaneous. Data may remain usable while a request is being processed. Information outside Amazon’s cloud may not be deleted, de-identified copies may remain, and systems already trained with the data may continue to exist. These qualifications mean that a successful deletion request reduces the account data covered by the request; it is not a guarantee that every derivative or external copy disappears at once.
Practical privacy steps for Bee and Alexa users
Use the narrowest history scope that meets your goal
When removing Alexa data, select an individual entry or a limited range if you need to preserve unrelated history. Use the full-history command or option only when you intend to remove everything covered by that control. For Bee, delete the specific transcript and summary rather than an entire Voice Notes collection when the app offers item-level choices.
Separate raw audio from derived text
For Bee, ask whether the item is a transcript or summary because Amazon says audio is processed without being stored. For Alexa, review both the recording and its transcript where the history screen presents them separately. Removing only one visible representation may leave the other in the account.
Review connected services
After deleting an Alexa entry, consider what the interaction did. A shopping search, reminder, message, attachment or third-party skill can create a separate record. Remove those records through the relevant Amazon or third-party control rather than assuming voice-history deletion covers them.

Recheck privacy settings after app updates
Menu names and layouts can change. Reopen the privacy area after a major Bee or Alexa app update and confirm that your retention choice is still the one you intend. For Bee, rely on the labels in the current version because Amazon has not published one universal path.

Balance deletion against features you use
Alexa’s no-save option can remove Voice ID and reduce personalization. If several people share an account, explain that consequence before changing the setting. You can instead use a shorter automatic-deletion period if you want some personalization while limiting how long recordings remain.
Keep confirmation information
When the app displays a confirmation, note the date, scope and categories covered. This does not accelerate processing, but it gives you a clear reference if an item remains visible or if you need to ask support about a pending request.

I cannot find “Review Alexa History”
Confirm that you opened the Alexa app rather than the Bee companion app. The documented path is More > Alexa Privacy > Review Alexa History. If the app uses a different layout, open its privacy section and look for Alexa history or voice-and-typed-request controls. You can also use the Alexa Privacy Settings website.
The Bee app shows no “recordings” option
That may be expected. Amazon says Bee processes conversations without storing audio and describes deletion for personal data such as transcripts and summaries. Search the current app for privacy, personal data, Voice Notes, transcripts or summaries. Do not infer from the absence of a “recordings” label that no derived data exists.
An item remains after I deleted it
First check whether the request is still processing. Then verify that you deleted every related category—for example, both a transcript and a summary, or both a recording and its transcript in Alexa. If the interaction involved a reminder, list, message, attachment, product search or third-party skill, look for that separate record. Amazon also warns that copies outside its cloud, de-identified data and systems already trained with data may persist.

I enabled “don’t save recordings,” but text remains
Amazon says this option deletes recordings after processing while transcripts and typed requests may remain for 30 days after the last interaction in a chat unless you delete them sooner. Open Alexa Privacy and remove the text entries manually if you need them gone before that period.
Voice recognition stopped working
If you selected not to save Alexa recordings, Amazon says Voice ID is deleted and Voice ID or other personalized features may stop working or degrade. Re-enable an appropriate recording-retention choice only if the personalization benefit justifies keeping that data.
Your privacy rights and account requests
Amazon’s Privacy Notice lists voice recordings made when customers speak to Alexa among the personal information it collects. It also says that applicable law may provide access or deletion rights. Those legal rights are broader than a single history screen, but they do not replace the practical in-app controls for routine deletion. Use the documented Bee or Alexa controls first, and consult Amazon’s privacy process when you need an access or deletion request beyond the categories exposed in the app.

- You need complete erasure: check attachments, action records, searches, reminders, lists, messages and third-party skill data separately, and allow for deletion processing.
