To customize Quick Settings on a Samsung Galaxy phone, open the panel, enter its edit mode, then add, remove, or drag controls and tap Done. The route depends mainly on your One UI version: One UI 7 and newer use a top-right swipe and a pencil-shaped Edit icon; One UI 6.1.1 and earlier use the expanded panel’s three-dot menu.
First, check which Quick Settings layout your Galaxy has
Samsung changed panel access with One UI 7.0. Devices on One UI 7 or later separate Notifications and Quick settings by default; devices on One UI 6.1.1 or earlier use the same swipe access for both. The appearance and menu names can also vary by model, software version, carrier, and region. If the directions below do not match your phone, check Settings > About phone > Software information for its One UI version.

Customize buttons on One UI 6.1.1 or earlier
- Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers, slightly apart, to open the expanded Quick settings panel.
- Tap the three-dot More options icon.
- Tap Edit buttons.
- Drag buttons to arrange them. Swipe sideways through the Available buttons area if you need to find more controls.
- Tap Done to save.
In some older layouts, you can also swipe down twice, swipe left to the plus icon, tap it, and drag an available button into the panel. To remove a button, open Edit buttons and drag it out of the panel. These instructions come from Samsung’s older button menu guide; the labels and route may differ on newer software.
Choose when older panels show brightness and media controls
On older panel layouts, open the three-dot More options menu and look for the panel layout or display options. Depending on the available choices, you can set brightness to stay visible or appear only when the panel is expanded. You can also choose to show Device control and Media output always, when the panel is collapsed, or not at all. These specific display choices are documented for older layouts and may not appear with the same labels on newer One UI versions.

Combine Notifications and Quick Settings on supported newer phones
If you prefer the older combined view, some One UI 7-and-newer Galaxy devices offer a Together setting. Swipe down from the top right, tap Edit, then Panel settings and Notification and quick settings view, and choose Together. Samsung notes that this option is not available on every device. Its Canadian support guide describes the setting and its availability caveat.

- The swipe opens notifications instead: On One UI 7 and newer, swipe from the top-right edge to open Quick panel; notifications are accessed separately. On older software, use the two-finger swipe to expand Quick settings.
- You cannot find a button: In edit mode, swipe sideways through the Available buttons area; it may have multiple pages.
- A label or setting is missing: Samsung cautions that available screens and settings vary by model, software version, wireless provider, and region. Not every newer phone offers the Together option.
Samsung’s instructions for the Galaxy S26 series describe a One UI 8.5-specific route: Edit > Add a control, then select or move a control and tap Done. That guide is specific to the S26 series, so do not assume its labels or slider-editing options apply to other Galaxy models. See Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Quick Panel guide.
