Start by confirming that your Galaxy S26 has actually installed One UI 9, then use the phone’s own “What’s new in One UI 9” guide for version-specific menu paths. Samsung announced the S26-series rollout, but availability and features can vary by market, carrier, network and software build, and Samsung’s regional update pages do not show a consistent rollout status.
Check your One UI version and update status first
Open Settings > Software update > Check for updates to check for an available update. Samsung says availability and functions can vary by device, carrier and network. Its global newsroom announced that the One UI 9 rollout began with the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra on September 16, 2026, while Samsung Germany’s update page describes One UI 9 as a beta for the S26 series and lists One UI 8 as the latest OS. Check your phone and region-specific notices, including Samsung Members, rather than assuming the update is available to every S26 owner.

After installing the update, look near the bottom of Settings for a manual entry. Depending on the device, it may be called User manual, Tips and user manual, Help or Tips and help. Open What’s new in One UI 9 for instructions that match your build. Samsung also points users to the on-device manual or the Setup Wizard’s “What’s new in One UI 9” entry. Choose what to customize by what you want the phone to do
- Faster access to controls: personalize the Quick panel, but verify the steps on your One UI 9 build; Samsung’s available S26 walkthrough documents One UI 8.5.
- How photos and videos are captured: adjust preferences in Camera settings.
- At-a-glance alerts: check notification and status-bar options in Settings, treating Samsung’s One UI 8.5 instructions as version-specific rather than confirmed One UI 9 steps.
- New One UI 9 experiences and device care: consult the on-device manual for exact controls and locations.
Personalize the Quick panel—with a version check
The Quick panel is where you arrange shortcuts and controls used frequently. Samsung’s S26 Quick panel guide is explicitly for One UI 8.5, not One UI 9. Its procedure is useful only if the same labels and controls appear on your phone; do not assume the route is unchanged after updating.

- Swipe down from the top-right of the screen to open the Quick panel.
- Tap Edit to rearrange or remove controls. Use Add a control to add available items; resizing is supported only for some controls.
- Tap Done to save.
For the One UI 8.5 layout, Samsung’s guide also describes opening Edit > Panel settings, choosing Together, then selecting Edit top quick settings. Menu names and available actions may differ on One UI 9. Use the guide on your phone to confirm the current layout. Samsung’s S26 Quick panel walkthrough identifies its instructions as One UI 8.5 guidance.
Set your Galaxy S26 camera preferences
For capture options, Samsung documents this route in the Galaxy S26 Camera app: open Camera > Quick controls (the four-dot icon) > Settings. Available settings depend on the mode and feature in use. The options Samsung lists include:

If an alert or battery indicator looks different after an update, first check the One UI 9 manual on your device for the current route and behavior. Samsung’s status-bar troubleshooting page documents two examples for One UI 8.5, but does not verify them for One UI 9:

These are One UI 8.5 examples, not guaranteed One UI 9 fixes. Refer to Samsung’s status-bar guidance for that version, and confirm any matching option on your own build before changing it.
