CloudConvert also documents an HTML-file input route. This can suit a card you generate as a file, but check how its referenced assets resolve in the actual job. The documentation establishes the input route, not a guarantee that every relative path, custom font, or protected asset will render as intended.

Use the API for automation
The API is the documented route for automated captures and task chaining. CloudConvert’s example creates a capture-website task, sets output_format to png, supplies a width, and follows it with an export/url task. Use the web converter for a manual file conversion
CloudConvert also offers an HTML-to-PNG web converter. Its documented role is file conversion; the API is the better documented fit when you need repeatable jobs, task chaining, or programmatic capture controls. Build the card at a deliberately chosen landscape canvas. The API documentation describes full-page capture, custom viewport settings, and waiting for a CSS selector. Set capture dimensions to match the card you designed, and use a selector wait when the card’s content appears after initial page load. Review the rendered image for missing assets, clipped text, or layout shifts. A documented setting cannot guarantee a particular site will render identically in every job.
Export the image and set Open Graph metadata
CloudConvert’s documented job pattern connects the capture task to an export/url task. Once you have the output, store or serve it at a stable URL accessible to the intended crawlers. Then add appropriate metadata to the shared page’s head:

Check the result before relying on it
- Open the exported image and confirm the composition, text, and assets are correct.
- Request the published image URL and confirm it returns the intended image rather than an error page or inaccessible resource.
- Inspect the live page source to confirm the Open Graph tags are in the document head and point to the intended page and image.
- Use the target network’s current preview or debugging tool. Preview dimensions, crawler access, cache behavior, and metadata interpretation vary by platform and are not established by the protocol alone.
Troubleshooting common problems
The screenshot is blank or missing content
Check whether the input page and its assets are reachable from the capture environment. If content is inserted after initial load, configure a wait for the relevant CSS selector. Re-run and inspect the image; the API’s documented controls do not guarantee that a protected resource or delayed script will succeed.
Fonts or images are missing
Verify the resource URLs and their access requirements in the actual rendering setup. For file input, check how linked resources resolve; for URL input, make sure the deployed page can load them. The documentation supports these input routes but does not promise that every external or protected asset will load.
The card is cropped or laid out incorrectly
Compare the capture viewport and width with the card’s intended canvas, and inspect for content that extends beyond it. Do not treat the width in CloudConvert’s example as a platform standard; consult the destination network’s current specifications.

Confirm that og:image contains the full, publicly reachable image URL and that the page’s metadata is present in the delivered HTML. Then check the target platform’s current debugging tools and crawler-access requirements. Check the current operation reference for the supported task structure and parameter names. API options can change; the documented example is a pattern, not a guarantee that an old request remains valid unchanged.
