To let other people hear those clips in a game, call, or stream, set Voicemod Virtual Audio as that app’s microphone/input, keep Voicemod running, and use headphones as your output device. If the app uses push-to-talk, hold its push-to-talk key while triggering the clip.
Set up Voicemod audio first

Open Voicemod and choose your physical microphone as its input device.

Choose your headphones or headset as Voicemod’s output device. Voicemod recommends closing communication apps during initial setup. Speakers can send sound back into the microphone and cause feedback.

Add clips and build your board
Import your own audio
Open the Soundboard and drag a supported audio file into an empty slot. Voicemod’s Help Center documents WAV and MP3 files, with a maximum file size of 20 MB and a maximum duration of eight minutes per sound. These are documented limits and may change, so check the current app if either limit affects your clip.
Use community sounds
You can also search Voicemod’s community sounds and add a selection to your board. Voicemod’s product page advertised more than 800,000 community-created sounds when accessed in 2026; that is a vendor-published catalog figure, not an independently audited count. The same page describes the Soundboard as buttons for audio clips and VoiceBox filters. Play a clip by clicking its button or using an assigned keybind. Choose how to trigger sounds
Click a button
Click the sound’s button in Voicemod to play it. This is the simplest way to test a clip before setting up shortcuts.
Assign a keyboard shortcut

Select the sound, choose Add keybind, and press a keyboard combination. Voicemod gives Ctrl+4 and Shift+M as examples.

Choose a combination that is easy to reach but does not conflict with controls in your game or other apps. Test it with the game or call running.
Voicemod’s documented keybind system does not support mouse buttons or non-conventional keys such as macro and extra function keys. For system-wide controls, the documented path is Voicemod > Settings > Keybinds > System Keybinds; available actions include mute/unmute, hear-myself on/off, stop all sounds, and show/hide overlay. Labels and options can vary by app version. Details are in Voicemod’s keybind guide.
Send soundboard audio to a game, call, or stream

Keep Voicemod open while you use the soundboard.

In the destination game or communication app’s audio settings, select Voicemod Virtual Audio or Voicemod Virtual Audio Device Microphone as the input/microphone.

Keep your headphones or headset selected as the destination app’s output. Do not select Voicemod’s virtual audio device as the headphone/output device: it is the microphone bridge for sending audio into the app, not your normal listening output.

Trigger a clip and confirm that it reaches the call or game. If push-to-talk is enabled there, press and hold that app’s push-to-talk key while triggering the sound.

If you use macOS
If the destination app does not offer an input selector, Voicemod’s support instructions describe setting Voicemod Microphone as the system input through Audio MIDI Setup. The support page also flags a virtual-audio issue affecting some call apps and USB microphones beginning with macOS 12.1; it does not establish whether that issue affects every current macOS and app combination. Consult the current Voicemod setup guidance if routing fails.

Use a phone or streaming controller
Pair a phone as a controller
Voicemod’s controller article describes this flow for Voicemod V3 on Windows or macOS:

Connect streaming hardware or software
Voicemod lists Stream Deck and other streaming integrations in its streaming setup guides. A programmable controller can be another way to trigger soundboard actions, but compatibility depends on the specific device and setup.
Fix common soundboard problems

The clip plays in Voicemod, but nobody hears it. In the receiving app, check that Voicemod Virtual Audio is selected as the microphone/input, and make sure Voicemod is still open.

Push-to-talk is enabled. Press the receiving app’s push-to-talk key while triggering the sound.

A keybind does not work on Windows. Voicemod lists Windows permissions as one possible cause. Its troubleshooting advice is to exit Voicemod and the game fully, then reopen Voicemod with administrator permissions. This is a possible troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed fix.

Audio processing suppresses the clip. Voicemod says Windows Studio Mode/Voice Focus or Discord processing settings may interfere in some configurations. Check the current settings and labels in the affected app; they can change.

You hear echo or feedback. Use headphones instead of speakers, following Voicemod’s setup recommendation.
